Facilitates enterprise level growth and risk aligned performance by leading the design, integration, and execution of a unified, forward looking view of CCB portfolio health. Drives scenario based insights, risk identification, and risk appetite calibration by integrating analytics across risk, capital, returns, and portfolio migration.

  • Leads the development and operationalization of CCB’s Portfolio Health & Outlook framework, ensuring consistent, scalable, and action oriented insights that support earlier decisions and clearer strategic direction.
  • Oversees integration of analytics across credit risk, capital, return, migration, and collateral, ensuring methodologies are aligned, transparent, and decision useful.
  • Drives scenario specific implications across portfolios, sectors, and borrowers, translating insights into clear grow / defend / pull back recommendations aligned with business strategy and risk appetite.
  • Plays a central role in the CCB risk identification process, ensuring alignment with enterprise expectations and actionable outcomes supported by strong analytical evidence.
  • Supports calibration of risk appetite metrics, ongoing monitoring, breach management, and escalation governance, enabling proactive portfolio risk management.
  • Partners with CDAO, Finance, Risk, and Business stakeholders to ensure aligned data, methodology, insights, and strategic actions, acting as a primary advocate for analytical consistency and portfolio optimization objectives.
  • Leads development and monthly production of the CCB Portfolio Insights & Actions package, enabling senior leadership visibility and strategic decision making discussion into emerging risks, opportunities, and strategic decision levers.
  • Delivers analytical depth and strategic insight for industry reviews, capital discussions, planning cycles, and strategic decision making.
  • Coaches, directs, and quality checks work delivered by junior team members, ensuring alignment with team mandate, analytical standards, and enterprise governance expectations.
  • Analyzes market trends, client industry developments, and key macroeconomic drivers to assess portfolio implications and support forward looking scenario analysis.
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, risk governance expectations, and compliance policies across all analytics, reporting, and portfolio strategy processes.
  • Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviours in all that they do.
  • Ensures alignment between values and behaviour that fosters diversity and inclusion.
  • Regularly connects work to BMO’s purpose, sets inspirational goals, defines clear expected outcomes, and ensures clear accountability for follow through.
  • Operates at a group wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous analytical and risk strategy challenges.
  • Implements changes in response to shifting economic, regulatory, and portfolio trends.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Takes measured risks while protecting the bank by applying our Risk Management Framework in the execution of the role, in line with our Risk Culture and within our approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk informed decisions that align to business strategy and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in portfolio or capital management, credit risk, capital & returns analytics, or related quantitative/strategic functions in financial services.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative disciplines preferred. Graduate degree (MBA, MSc, MA) considered an asset.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience, and industry knowledge.

Advanced proficiency in:

  • Portfolio and capital management & scenario analysis
  • Credit risk and capital modelling and analytics
  • SQL, SAS, and Python (or similar programming languages) to extract, analyze, and visualize data
  • Data integration, interpretation, analytics and insight generation
  • Governance alignment and methodology development
  • Project Management

Expert proficiency in:

  • Structuring portfolio level insights & forward looking analysis
  • Risk appetite metrics, monitoring, and breach governance
  • Portfolio health frameworks & early warning indicators
  • Risk identification processes
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Communication, influence, and executive level storytelling
  • Analytical rigor and quality assurance

Salary:

$86,000.00 - $160,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
