Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Physician Relations works to strengthen relationships between our organization and referring providers, increase patient referrals, and enhance our reputation in the healthcare community. By serving as the bridge between physicians and our services, the director will ensure consistent communication, address provider needs, and identify growth opportunities. Educating, training, and leading the physician liaisons within the department and region.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, marketing, or a related field.

  • Six (6) years in physician relations, business development, or healthcare leadership, with a proven track record of driving referral growth and building provider networks.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong sales experience

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Analytical skills for market research and performance reporting

  • Understanding healthcare operations, compliance, and reimbursement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees team performance and strategic initiatives across the region

  • Provides training, coaching, and mentoring to the physician liaisons in the department and region

  • Conduct regular outreach visits to referring and potential referring providers, ensuring consistent face-to-face engagement and fostering trust-based relationships. Minimal of 30 provider visits a week with 10 P2P (Peer to Peer visits per quarter)

  • Provides timely and relevant updates on services, new technologies, care pathways, and organizational initiatives to keep providers informed and aligned with our capabilities.

  • Build strong relationships with community providers, their staff, and key market individuals.

  • Facilitate smooth referral processes by streamlining communication channels, addressing administrative or logistical challenges, and resolving barriers quickly to enhance provider satisfaction.

  • Track referral patterns in detail, analyze data for trends, identify emerging opportunities or concerns, and report actionable insights to leadership for strategic decision-making.

  • Organizes networking opportunities that promote knowledge sharing, strengthen professional connections, and position our organization as a thought leader in the healthcare community.

  • Tracks sales activities, reports on metrics, and creates bridge plans to meet financial targets.

  • Research market needs, physician specialties, and growth initiatives to identify opportunities.

  • Develop and implement service line-specific sales plans, focusing on physician engagement and market growth.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
