What you’ll be doing
The Director, Physical Security Systems and Technologies functions as an important member of the Corporate Security team and is responsible for enhancing physical security capabilities enterprise-wide. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Enterprise Physical Security, the Director, Physical Security Systems and Technologies has the following key accountabilities:
The position will provide strategic leadership in the design, maintenance, evolution, and cost-effectiveness of technologies and systems supporting CIBC’s enterprise physical security program, with a strong focus on effective risk management in the dynamic environments in which CIBC operates.
The position also carries the responsibility for strengthening relationships with internal/external stakeholders, providing consulting support, optimizing security, and overseeing day-to-day initiatives to ensure physical security program requirements are met.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, however travel may be required and at times, on short notice in order to meet business needs. The position requires the ability to lead and support security system and technology incidents, changes, and critical activities that occur outside of regular business hours.
How You’ll Succeed
Program Management - Lead the overall physical security systems and technology program, providing strategic direction and oversight for the management, design, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of security system projects and initiatives. Drive the development and execution of the overall strategy and standards for CIBC’s enterprise-wide physical security systems.
Physical Security Standards - Development, implementation, and ongoing management of security systems standards to safeguard CIBC’s tangible and intangible assets. Identifying, evaluating and recommending methods to mitigate threats to people, property, and information.
Program Governance - Monitor effectiveness of programs and report on associated metrics. Developing governance and oversight strategies necessary to fulfill monitoring and reporting accountabilities for standards and technology owned by the Enterprise Physical Security Team.
Relationship Management - Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support CIBC’s physical security efforts. This will include establishing lines of communication and a network of strong professional relationships.
Vendor Management - Lead the oversight and management of contracted physical security systems suppliers, ensuring vendor compliance with SLA/KPI requirements and driving continuous improvement in vendor performance.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate 7+ years of experience in the management and implementation of physical security system design, programming, commissioning, maintenance, and system management, including at least 3 years of people management experience. Possession of a professional designation in the engineering, security and/or security system design field such as ones available from ASIS International (CPP, PSP), Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng), or Building Industry Consulting Service International (RCDD) would be an asset.
