State Coordinator - Projects

Position Summary The State Coordinator - Projects serves as the regional lead responsible for overseeing project delivery, client relationships, and operational excellence across all PMC engagements within the assigned state. This role ensures seamless project execution, regulatory compliance, and business growth while maintaining the firm's reputation for delivering high-quality project management consulting services.

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight & Delivery Coordinate multiple concurrent projects across various sectors (real estate, infrastructure, industrial, commercial) within the state territory. Ensure projects meet quality standards, timeline commitments, and budget parameters established in client contracts. Monitor project progress through regular site visits, team meetings, and stakeholder communications. Facilitate resolution of project issues, scope changes, and risk mitigation strategies. Oversee project documentation, reporting, and knowledge management systems.

Client & Stakeholder Management Serve as primary client interface for key accounts and maintain strong relationships with developers, contractors, government agencies, and regulatory bodies. Lead client presentations, project reviews, and contract negotiations. Address client concerns promptly and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Identify opportunities for contract extensions, additional services, and new business development.

Team Leadership & Coordination Manage and coordinate project managers, engineers, architects, and technical specialists working on state projects. Ensure adequate resource allocation and staffing across all active engagements. Conduct performance reviews, provide mentoring, and support professional development of team members. Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices implementation across project teams.

Regulatory & Compliance Management Maintain current knowledge of state building codes, environmental regulations, safety requirements, and permitting processes. Ensure all projects comply with local statutory requirements and industry standards. Coordinate with regulatory agencies for approvals, inspections, and clearances. Manage relationships with government officials and regulatory bodies.

Business Development & Growth Support business development activities including proposal preparation, client pitches, and market analysis. Identify emerging market opportunities and potential clients within the state. Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional associations. Maintain competitive intelligence and market insights for strategic planning.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum 7-10 years of project management experience, preferably in PMC or consulting environment. Proven track record of managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously. Experience working with diverse project types including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments.

Technical Skills Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMI, PRINCE2) and software (MS Project, Primavera P6). Proficiency in construction processes, building systems, and project delivery methods. Understanding of contracts, procurement processes, and vendor management. Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Leadership & Communication Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and stakeholder interactions. Strong presentation and negotiation abilities. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.

Regulatory Knowledge Thorough understanding of state building codes, zoning regulations, and permit processes. Knowledge of environmental regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance requirements. Familiarity with government procurement processes and public sector project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in relevant field or MBA. Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or equivalent. Previous experience as State Head or Regional Manager in PMC/consulting firm. Established network of contacts within state construction industry, regulatory agencies, and key client organizations. Experience with international projects or global PMC standards.

Willingness to travel extensively within state (60-70% travel expected).

Reporting Structure Reports to: Regional Director/Head of Operations Direct Reports: Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Technical Specialists (typically 15-25 team members)
