About The Role

The Director, Paralegal Services II serves as the senior operational leader for paralegal services supporting the Fixed Annuity & Life business within Retail Legal. Reporting to the Head of the Fixed Annuity & Life practice, under the supervision of attorneys, this role is accountable for setting strategy, governance, and execution for paralegal support across the full product lifecycle—from product development and regulatory filings through sales enablement and marketing review.

This is a highly visible individual contributor role requiring deep subject-matter expertise, sound judgment, executive presence, and the ability to lead complex work through influence in a regulated environment.

This position is a hybrid role based in Houston, Texas, Jersey City, New Jersey. or Woodland Hills, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the paralegal services operating model for the Fixed Annuity & Life portfolio, including intake, triage, prioritization, and assignment of work across product development, implementation, sales, and marketing activities.
  • Establish governance and operating discipline, including service levels, escalation paths, review cadence, and executive-ready reporting on volume, risk, and delivery.
  • Lead paralegal services through influence, providing coaching, delegation, and capability development in partnership with Legal leadership.
  • Drive execution for complex initiatives, including product launches, feature enhancements, and state readiness efforts, ensuring timelines, dependencies, and risks are actively managed and escalated.
  • Oversee product documentation and recordkeeping, including version control, approval evidence, and audit-ready retention practices.
  • Support review of sales and marketing materials, ensuring consistent application of standards, timely turnaround, and accurate incorporation of legal guidance.
  • Coordinate regulatory and compliance readiness activities, including responses to information requests, filings support, and examination materials, under attorney supervision.
  • Serve as a senior operational partner to Product, Compliance, Risk, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and shared services, ensuring clear ownership and seamless handoffs.
  • Drive continuous improvement, including standardization of templates, playbooks, SOPs, and effective use of technology to improve speed, consistency, and control.
  • Monitor deadlines and delivery risks, proactively identifying bottlenecks and recommending pragmatic path-forward options.
  • Partner with Legal Operations on matter management hygiene, vendor oversight, budgeting support, and related administrative activities.
  • Define and track performance metrics, translating insights into action plans that improve service delivery and risk outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive paralegal experience, including significant work supporting complex, highly regulated financial services products.
  • Demonstrated experience setting operating models and driving execution across product development and launch processes.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and operate effectively with senior attorneys and cross-functional executives.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and risk awareness in handling sensitive and high-impact matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and drive decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort leveraging workflow and document management tools.
  • Paralegal certificate required.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 to 100,000 the commencement of employment.  Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered will ultimately be dependent on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications.

In addition, the position is eligible for a discretionary bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Corebridge also offers a range of competitive benefits as part of the total compensation package, as detailed below.

Work Location

This position is based in Corebridge Financials' Jersey City, New Jersey, Houston, Texas, or Woodland Hills, CA offices and is subject to our hybrid working policy, which gives colleagues the benefits of working both in an office and remotely.
