Can you transform supplier ecosystems into a strategic advantage that delivers time, cost and quality outcomes at scale? As Director, Outsourcing Management, you will lead how we partner externally across delivery models to unlock speed and reliability in our development portfolio.
Your work will shape how studies are executed globally, how risks are anticipated and resolved, and how supplier performance translates into real-world impact for patients. You will bring clarity to roles and interfaces, establish robust governance, and drive continuous improvement—combining rigorous metrics with collaborative relationships that enable bold science to move fast with confidence.
Supplier and Model Governance: Own the outsourcing management of one or more suppliers across delivery models and service lines. Lead operational governance, implement sourcing strategies that optimize flexibility and performance, and proactively identify and manage risks. Serve as the point of contact for issue escalation to Alliance Management and facilitate timely, pragmatic resolutions in partnership with business stakeholders. Support large cross-country project deliverables when required.
Quality and Performance Assurance: Monitor quality and performance of service deliverables in line with master service agreements and agreed outsourcing models. Ensure suppliers deliver to contract, create strong relationships with external partners and internal customers, and provide transparent visibility of performance to stakeholders. Integrate lessons learned into ways of working and pursue efficiencies and continuous improvement across supplier and model/service lines.
Study Team Enablement: Ensure clear understanding of roles and responsibilities across delivery teams for assigned models and service lines. Work closely with the Alliance Management Process Integration Lead, internal subject matter experts and supplier counterparts to establish, maintain and evolve interface processes and ways of working (e.g., Alliance Handbooks).
Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership: Foster a collaborative culture by building trust, practicing proactive partnership management and holding internal and external stakeholders to account. Represent Study Management in cross-functional forums and lead global process improvement initiatives. Role model partnering behaviors and expected ways of working.
Portfolio and Capacity Management: Monitor supplier and model/service line capacity to meet portfolio needs. Partner with leadership to create and adhere to budgets. Support the use of algorithms and systems to reliably estimate functional demand and strengthen portfolio decision-making.
Accountable for the outsourcing management of one or more supplier(s) within or across model(s) / service line(s)
Proactively identifies and manages risks at the supplier / model / service line level
Serves as point of contact for issue escalation to Alliance Management for assigned supplier(s) and facilitates resolution of operational issues that impact delivery
Supports the implementation of outsourcing strategies to ensure optimal and flexible sourcing models delivering top-tier industry metrics (time, cost, quality); leads operational governance of supplier(s) / model(s) / service line(s)
Supports large cross-country project deliverables, as required
Monitors quality and performance of service deliverables in alignment with the MSA and outsourcing model
Ensures selected suppliers deliver to contract and builds strong relationships with external suppliers and internal customers
Ensures effective visibility of supplier performance to relevant stakeholders
Ensures ongoing assessment and integration of lessons learned for suppliers / models / service lines
Seeks opportunities to drive efficiencies and continuous improvement within supplier and model/service lines
Ensures understanding of roles and responsibilities across delivery teams for assigned delivery model(s) / service line(s)
Works with AM Process Integration Lead, internal subject matter experts and counterparts in supplier organizations to ensure effective use and maintenance of interface processes / ways of working (e.g., Alliance Handbooks)
Fosters development of a collaborative, organizational culture; builds trust, demonstrates proactive partnership management, and holds internal and external stakeholders to account
Represents Study Management in cross-functional groups and leads process improvement projects globally
Role models partnering behaviors and expected ways of working
Monitors capacity within the supplier and model / service line to support the portfolio
Partners with Leadership to ensure creation of and adherence to budgets
Supports algorithms and systems to reliably estimate demand for the functions
Experience in oncology drug development and global clinical trial delivery across multiple geographies
Track record managing MSAs, KPIs/SLAs and complex alliances within a large biopharma or CRO environment
Proven ability to drive continuous improvement using data, metrics and structured lessons-learned methodologies
Familiarity with capacity forecasting, demand planning systems and portfolio scenario modeling
Success leading cross-country transformation, outsourcing transitions or model re-designs
Strong influence skills to navigate matrixed organizations and engage senior stakeholders

Annual base salary for this position ranges from $150,883.20 to $198,034.20 AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs.
