Overview

Delivers deep market, sector and investor expertise, innovative thinking, and world‑class execution across a full suite of Capital Markets products. Collaborates with the Originators and Banking teams to provide financing solutions to clients. 

Key Responsibilities

Client Coverage & Relationship Management

  • Cultivates and deepens relationships with new and existing loan investors and corporate clients.
  • Maintains ongoing senior‑level coverage and ensures alignment across internal stakeholders.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of client needs, credit, capital structures and industry trends to anticipate and respond with tailored, market‑driven solutions.
  • Drives successful, tight syndication processes for primary loan sales.
  • Experience in collecting and synthesizing investor feedback to inform each transaction’s structure, pricing, and distribution strategy.
  • Identifies opportunities to cross‑sell and expand wallet share.

Deal Execution & Sector Strategy

  • Leads the syndication strategy for new loan transactions, including investor targeting, structure, pricing, and timing.
  • Serves as a key member of deal teams to expand market share by effectively winning new clients and developing incremental business opportunities.
  • Provides market expertise and contributes to the preparation and delivery of pitches and strategic recommendations.
  • Partners with sector and product specialists to structure, negotiate, and execute transactions.
  • Supports credit concurrence and pricing decisions as a client advocate.

Market, Industry & Portfolio Insight

  • Monitors loan market conditions, investor sentiment, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics.
  • Translates market intelligence into actionable advice for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Review financial statements, projections, and diligence materials to design appropriate, competitive loan structures that balance client objectives, investor demand, and risk considerations.

Risk Management & Governance

  • Applies strong risk judgment, evaluating risk-return trade-offs and ensuring recommendations align with the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Considers internal controls, compliance requirements, and regulatory expectations in daily activities.
  • Identifies opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, and capital optimization while managing associated risks.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to clients with unwavering standards for best-in-class execution and client service.
  • Reviews, mentors, and develops junior team members
  • Leads and reviews work from team members to support high-quality client deliverables.
  • Develops cross‑functional relationships across lines of business to ensure seamless coordination and client experience.
  • Drives improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and client service; acts as a positive change agent.

Qualifications

  • 9+ years of relevant experience in loan syndications, leveraged finance, or investment banking with a strong track record in structuring and executing syndicated loan transactions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field; advanced academic achievement preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in syndicated loan markets, investor behavior, and distribution dynamics.
  • Proven ability to manage senior‑level investor and corporate client relationships.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, analytical, problem‑solving, negotiating, and influence skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, complex environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across diverse teams and stakeholder groups.

Compensation

Salary Range: USD $275,000 – $350,000
(Actual compensation depends on skills, experience, education, and qualifications.)

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
