Position Summary

The Lead Director, Delivery COE is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring delivery of complex, high‑impact initiatives that align with organizational priorities. The role provides executive‑level oversight of portfolios, programs, and PMO capabilities, while leading a team of program managers, project managers and Business analysts.

The role consistently emphasizes enterprise delivery, strategic alignment, governance, and cross‑functional leadership, particularly in regulated environments such as healthcare Insurance.

**Position may be remote and/or hybrid depending on candidate location and commute to office.

What you will do

Lead Enterprise Portfolio Management & Strategic Delivery

  • Oversee, own, and direct business Enterprise Portfolio Management processes, prioritization, education, communication, and delivery.

  • Partner with IT and other strategic teams to communicate, coordinate, and collaborate processes, planning, and delivery of Enterprise Portfolio initiatives.

  • Manage senior leadership engagement for strategic initiatives identification and prioritization, CapEx planning, and roadmap alignment.

  • Provide direction and planning for major projects and programs from problem-statement through delivery.

  • Participate in Agile processes (e.g. Planning Increments) by representing Business and strategy and prioritization of Enterprise Portfolio initiatives.

  • Perform and direct business and IT efforts to interpret requirements, designs, estimate impacts, coordination of resources, and leadership reporting and visibility.

  • Facilitate working groups and maintain program oversight within shifting timelines and priorities.

Drive and Operationalize Business Continuity Governance

  • Lead planning, updates, testing, documentation, and cross‑department preparedness for Business Continuity.

  • Partner with enterprise BCM teams to ensure alignment, perform evaluations, and guide improvement efforts.

Provide Leadership for Data Governance Strategy

  • Set direction, goals, and metrics for Data Governance Manager.

  • Drive data integrity initiatives, incident improvement workstreams, and Salesforce vendor management enhancements.

Enhance Operational Excellence & Cross‑Functional Delivery

  • Partner with IT and business teams to improve Agile PI planning, operational metrics, prioritization, and delivery processes.

  • Contribute to architecture reviews, solution analysis, and enterprise portfolio management improvements.

Mentor, Coach & Develop Talent

  • Directly manage, guide, and grow diverse team of project management and technical resources to support accomplishment of all above goals.

  • Support hiring, onboarding, talent mobility, hybrid-work engagement, and model Heart‑at‑Work behaviors.

Directly manage, partner, and coordinate key Strategic Initiatives as assigned.

  • Own and drive high‑visibility initiatives such as audit management, AI implementation and governance, third-party engagement oversight, and data center migration support to high-quality successful delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ work experience in health care, insurance or related field

  • 7+ years’ experience in strategic program/project management

  • 5+ years’ leadership experience leading and coaching a team

  • 5+ years’ IT project/program management; technology savvy; familiar with Agile methodology; PMP certification

  • Demonstrated self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, cross-functional, collaborative, high-performance matrix environment

  • Adept at execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple high-priority programs and projects simultaneously, with impeccable attention to detail and organization

  • Mastery of problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Mastery of growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others) skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to convey information in an accessible, concise, and clear manner preparing PowerPoint decks for executive level presentations

  • Ability to influence others without direct management responsibility

  • Ability to think strategically, adapt quickly and work through ambiguity

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
