Axon

Director, Operations

Brussels, Belgium Full Time
Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

What You’ll Do

As Director of Operations for Sky Hero in Belgium, you will be the on-the-ground leader making sure our NextGen tactical robotics products actually get into the field, stay compliant, and keep working. You’ll run the operational engine from Brussels — inventory, shipping, demos, local compliance execution, and coordination with SEG Germany — while supporting sales teams and central partners across Europe.

You will also be the launch and go-to-market driver for Sky Hero and future hardware releases internationally. That means taking cutting-edge, first-of-their-kind drones and robotics from concept to field deployment by turning high-level launch goals into clear plans and deliverables across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Compliance, Logistics, Training, and Product. You’ll design and run the GTM playbook: knowing every step it takes to bring complex hardware to market, breaking that into concrete tasks, and making the process repeatable and bulletproof.

You won’t own product roadmaps, pricing, or P&L, but you will be the person everyone calls when something needs to move, ship, be set up, or get unstuck — and the person leadership looks to for a clear view on whether Internationally is launch-ready and what’s left to do, whilst managing a team of 4-5 direct reports to support.

Work Location: This role is based out of our Brussels, Belgium office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.

Travel: This role requires frequent travel including event/conference support & customer/distributor visits. Multiple times per month.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Ownership – Belgium Hub
  • Lead day-to-day operational execution for Sky Hero from Brussels, acting as the local facilitator for sales, operations, and compliance activities.
  • Oversee inventory for demo and operational units in Belgium, ensuring accuracy, readiness, and proper storage.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with SEG Germany and logistics partners, ensuring smooth delivery, reception, and returns across EU markets.
  • Own demo logistics for in-office and field demonstrations, including kit prep, asset tracking, and return flows.
  • Oversee on-site reception, unboxing, and handover of major customer orders, ensuring everything is checked, documented, and ready for use.
  • Manage the designated restricted area (DRA) in Brussels, including safe housing, testing, and live-fire validation of highly sensitive components in line with Axon SOPs.
Go-To-Market Leadership & Programme Management
  • Own the cross-functional GTM plan for Sky Hero / NextGen and subsequent hardware launches in Europe, from early planning through GA and post-launch scale.
  • Break complex, multi-country launches into clear workstreams, milestones, and owners across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Compliance, Logistics (SEG Germany), Training, and Product.
  • Run regular GTM readiness reviews: track dependencies, flag risks, and drive gaps to closure ahead of launch.
  • Design and maintain repeatable GTM playbooks (checklists, templates, sequencing) so each new launch is faster and more reliable than the last.
  • Define and track core launch health metrics (e.g., demo, inventory, training, and compliance readiness) and report them succinctly to leadership.
  • Coordinate Axon/Sky Hero presence at key trade shows and industry events as part of GTM: which markets to prioritise, what to show, and how leads flow back into the sales funnel.
Sales & Field Support Enablement
  • Serve as the operational point of contact for local sales reps, country managers, and the Sky Hero sales lead ensuring they have what they need for meetings, demos, and pilots.
  • Develop and guide Sales strategy and distributor engagement/management.
  • Coordinate distributor and customer activities (demos, trials, field days), including scheduling, equipment readiness, and on-the-day execution.
  • Manage lead capture and follow-up from trade shows and demos, ensuring clean handoffs into the sales pipeline and clear ownership by the right sales rep.
  • Support smaller or operationally complex deals (e.g., multi-country logistics or unusual delivery constraints) by coordinating with Sales, Logistics, and SEG Germany — without owning pricing or commercial strategy.
  • Provide practical, operations-focused input into RFI/RFP responses where local logistics or implementation detail is required.
Compliance & Launch Execution (Support, Not Strategy)
  • Partner with the central compliance team to execute local steps for product classification, certification, and shipping/handling of Generation 3 / NextGen and future platforms.
  • Translate central compliance decisions into local action: documentation, labelling, storage rules, movement controls, and audit trails.
  • Coordinate with external consultants or local partners when needed to meet country-specific logistics or compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate local records to support audits and ensure traceability of shipped, stored, and deployed units.
Post-Sale Support & Field Implementation (Escalation)
  • Act as an escalation and “white-glove” operational contact for high-profile or complex deployments, ensuring issues are triaged quickly with Customer Support, Product, and Engineering.
  • Coordinate with training teams and local trainers so customers receive appropriate training during deployment and early adoption.
  • Support RMA and service workflows from Belgium (intake, triage, packaging, onward shipment) in partnership with SEG Germany and central service teams.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Team Management
  • Serve as the hub between Sales, Operations, Compliance, Logistics, Training, and Product for Sky Hero activities in Belgium and nearby markets.
  • Run regular operational and GTM cadence meetings (L10s, stand-ups) to track launches, major events, shipments, and risks.
  • Manage a small local team (up to five direct reports), providing clear priorities, coaching, and structure across warehouse/ops, demo coordination, and support.
  • Provide concise reporting on launch readiness, operational status, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership and partner teams.

Your Day to Day

  • Review the GTM plan for upcoming Sky Hero / NextGen releases, update status by workstream, and chase down any slipping deliverables.
  • Walk the Brussels hub: DRA readiness, and which units are booked for demos, pilots, or shipments in the coming week.
  • Join a GTM readiness call with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Compliance to confirm a new product variant is truly launch-ready in priority EU markets.
  • Coordinate equipment, shipping, and on-site logistics for a trade show or high-stakes demo; align on who’s attending, what’s being shown, and how leads will be captured and handed off.
  • Unblock an escalation from the field — a customs issue, shipment delay, or missing asset — by pulling in Logistics, SEG Germany, or Compliance.
  • Work with your team to refine a launch playbook: capture what worked, what didn’t, and how to tighten the process for the next release.
  • Send a clear, brief update to leadership on launch readiness, major risks, and key decisions needed.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience leading go-to-market execution or major launches for hardware, electronics, robotics, drones, or similarly complex physical products.
  • Strong programme / project management skills: you turn ambiguous goals into structured plans, milestones, and ownership — and you’ve shipped things that mattered.
  • Hands-on experience in operations and logistics: inventory, shipping, returns, demos/pilots, and field implementations, not just planning from a distance.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as the cross-functional “glue” between Sales, Operations, Compliance, Product, and external partners, ideally across multiple countries.
  • Comfortable operating across European markets; additional languages (French highly valued) are a strong plus.
  • Experience with distributors and/or public-sector customers (police, military, or government agencies) is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with CRM/ERP tools (e.g., Salesforce, D365 or equivalent) and using metrics to drive operational and GTM decisions.
  • A pragmatic, execution-focused mindset: you care about repeatable, robust processes and you’re willing to roll up your sleeves in the warehouse when needed.
  • Prior people leadership experience (even with small teams), or clear evidence of coordinating others in an operational environment.
