Annual Salary: $79,930.00 - $107,900.00

Position Summary

The Director of Training Outreach (DTO) works in collaboration with all training programs within JFKSOPSS to ensure there are geographically accessible training site opportunities for all students. The Director may also oversee specific funded initiatives, such as workforce development or behavioral health internship programs, ensuring that all associated training sites, data reporting, and partnership activities align with program, state, and accrediting body requirements. The DTO reports directly to the Senior Director of Clinical Training and will work with Operations staff, as well as faculty and directors from all training programs.

The DTO’s primary responsibility is assisting students in obtaining practicum placement at appropriate sites as defined by the academic program, state regulations, and relevant accrediting bodies. The Director will identify, grow, and participate in managing sites within all states in which the academic programs are offered, including management of contracts and documentation. The Director will solicit training sites, meet with training Directors and clinical supervisors, and work with Professional Training and academic programs in maintaining site contracts in alignment with program requirements. The DTO will work in collaboration with the program enrollment team and will assess geographic site needs of students in all training programs on an ongoing basis.  The Director will be knowledgeable with the various technology systems utilized by the clinical training team (e.g., ELC, JotForm, Acuity, Zoom, CRM, etc.) and provide timely and accurate administration of required processes and protocols. Further, the Director will ensure timely responses are provided to all email correspondence. The Director will also work directly with students in preparation to apply to sites to facilitate students’ success in their training. The Director also provides leadership for Community Services which provide placements for JFKSOPSS students.

Essential Functions:

  • Work directly with JFK Operations staff, Program Directors, Directors of Clinical/Applied Training, Department Chairs, and Department Faculty to facilitate a smooth site acquisition process and transition into clinical/professional/applied training courses.
  • Oversee the review of evaluations and feedback from students as it relates to their process in acquiring a training site.  
  • Search for, identify, evaluate, and solicit site partners across the nation based on enrollment data gathered for each JFKSOPPS training program.
  • Leads and coordinates special initiatives or funded projects related to clinical training outreach, including development, implementation, partner engagement, data reporting, and continuous improvement, in alignment with institutional, accreditation, and program standards. Ensure student placements meet all requirements for the relevant programs, state, and accrediting bodies.
  • Work within the ELC platform in management of site documentation.
  • Address all email and outreach communications within a 1–2-day business period.
  • Supports and coordinates with school and program leadership on accreditation reviews.
  • Manages review of non-standard clinical placement agreements (i.e., MOUs), including communication with appropriate internal and external stakeholders in collaboration with the Senior Director of Clinical Training.
  • Maintains professional communication with students, local sites, and local supervisors.
  • Provides regular opportunities to offer academic guidance to individual JFKSOPSS students on training process and placements and any problems/concerns that they encounter related to securing a training site.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with Senior Director and other internal stakeholders on appropriate data collection, analysis, evaluation, and dissemination of reports including the regular evaluation of the students’ training experience quality consistent with the role.
  • Provides leadership for Community Services in Northern California [Michael G Harris Community Counseling Program (CCP), National University Community Counseling Center, Psychological Assessment Clinic (PAC)] and/or Southern California (clinical services for the ENLACES Community Counseling Program, ELEVATE program, and future clinical services which provide placements for JFKSOPSS students)
  • Collaborate with training directors and other academic program personnel as needed.
  • Participates in administrative meetings and project teams as requested.
  • Completes all other tasks and/or projects as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct reports may include and are not limited to Manager / Associate Director of Clinical Services and other specialized staff roles.

Supervisory duties to include:

  • Screens applications, interviews candidates, and recommends individuals for hiring.
  • Trains and assigns work to new and continuing employees.
  • Delegates tasks and provides effective direction to team members to produce substantial business results.
  • Independently conducts frequent performance feedback weekly, quarterly, and annually, to include annual performance evaluations.
  • Makes recommendations for salary increases, merit increases and reclassifications.
  • In conjunction with HR, determines corrective action as needed for direct reports.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling or similar behavioral sciences discipline required (e.g. MFT, MSW, PCC, CMHC etc.).  
  • 3+ years of experience in any state as a clinical therapist (e.g. LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, licensed clinical psychologist, etc.) required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Excellent networking and professional communication skills required.
  • Clinical supervision experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred.
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.

  • Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. Experience using Student Information System (SIS) such as SOAR/Peoplesoft systems.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems independently.

Location: Hybrid. San Diego residence required.

Travel: Travel required as necessary, may include site visits, Bay Area community services program visits, quarterly college/school meetings, commencement, and conferences.
