REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
o Bachelor’s degree in student personnel, student development, counseling, higher education, or related field;
o At least two years of full-time experience working in a college setting.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
o Master’s Degree;
o Two years of full-time experience advising or counseling in a student-athlete support setting;
o Experience working with diverse and at-risk student-athlete populations.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Advise student athletes in a holistic manner to support their academic, personal, and professional success;
o Will advise specific sports as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Academic Success;
o Develops and maintains accurate advising records and electronic documents in an organized manner and distributes information internally and to other UALR offices as appropriate;
o Support recruitment, retention, and assessment initiatives in the College, including student outreach and attendance at events;
o Oversee the transfer process of incoming athletes, including the transfer of credits, articulation issues, and understanding university/program requirements;
o Provide academic support and intervention where needed to prospective, incoming, and current athletes and connects them with appropriate UALR advisors, resources, and services;
o Empower students to become proficient and self-sufficient within the UALR environment;
o Acquires, applies, and maintains expert knowledge of UALR’s undergraduate admissions standards, advising procedures, and degree requirements;
o Utilize appropriate documents, resources, and UALR systems (Workday) to confirm and inform students of degree requirements;
o Work directly with a diverse population of student-athletes, specifically the at-risk population.
o Collaborate with NCAA Compliance Officer to monitor student class drops and other regulation issues;
o Perform other duties as assigned.

o Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
o Ability to adapt to change;
o Effectively operate and utilize a computer, telephone, photocopier, fax, scanner, Internet, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.), and Google Suite;
o Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends as needed;
o Knowledge of university structures and academic programs.
