POSITION DETAILS:
The Department of Academic Affairs and Physical Education at Pomona College invites applications for an Assistant Professor/Director of Sports Medicine to begin in summer 2026. The Director provides overall leadership and day-to-day management for the Athletic Training and Sports Performance units within the Department of Physical Education and Athletics. This role carries full supervisory responsibility for all Sports Medicine and Athletic Performance staff members and oversees the operations of both the Athletic Training Room and the Athletic Performance Center. The Director works in close partnership with faculty and staff coaches across all 21 varsity athletic programs and reports to the Pomona-Pitzer Athletic Director.
The Director will expand the curriculum by teaching Physical Education courses in health-related areas and providing internship opportunities for students interested in the Health Sciences and Sports Performance fields. As a member of the Department of Physical Education senior administrative team, the Director plays a meaningful role in shaping the direction of the department by contributing to major decisions, informing long-range planning, and helping develop and execute the strategic vision for both Pomona College Physical Education and Pomona-Pitzer Athletics. This position carries a coterminous faculty appointment in the Department of Physical Education with teaching expectations. ADDITIONAL POSITIONAL DETAILS: Regular, full-time, exempt position. Annual Salary: $90,000-$115,000. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to and individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of athletic teams and of student-athletes balancing their academic schedules. Holiday, evening and weekend hours are required. Travel may be required.
