Summary

The Director of Sales, Events (Catering) will have a primary focus on social events and corporate functions at the hotel. The Director of Sales, Events (Catering) will be responsible for soliciting catering accounts by entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed food and beverage revenue goals.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

o Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication

o Coordinate and oversee client functions to ensure customer satisfaction

o Manage the events team and ensure goals are exceeded

o Sell, manage, coordinate, and execute group assignments turned over by the Sales Department

o Monitor all contractual agreements pertaining to, meeting space, food and beverage and special concessions

o Effectively communicate to all hotel departments the information necessary to successfully execute the group’s needs while maintaining a good client relationship

o Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance

o Participate in business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other catering sales related meetings as required

o Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual Forecasting

o Responsible for monthly P&L review and commentary

o Participate in development and revisions of SOP’s

o Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers

o Attend community/social events and industry meetings

o Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers

o Support any additional related responsibilities given by Sales & Marketing Leaders

QUALIFICATIONS

o High school or equivalent education required

o Bachelor’s Degree preferred

o Minimum of 5 years catering sales & service experience preferred in a Los Angeles area hotel market

o Familiarity with food and beverage basics, menu planning and private/group event coordination and planning

o Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding

o Knowledge of computers, sales/catering software, and Microsoft Office programs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This may include traveling to and from meetings. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.

 The pay scale for Director of Sales, Events (Catering) is $114,000 to $170,000.

The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
