Job Summary
The Director of Rooms is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the hotel’s rooms division, including housekeeping, laundry, and guest room maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of hospitality operations, guest service standards, and financial management. The Director of Rooms will oversee staff, develop and implement departmental goals, and ensure guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Operational Management:
Oversees the daily operations of housekeeping, laundry, and guest room maintenance departments.
Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
Ensures compliance with all hotel standards and regulations.
Manages room inventory and pricing strategies.
Coordinates room assignments and guest requests.
Responds to guest complaints and resolves issues promptly and effectively.
Financial Management:
Develops and manages departmental budgets.
Monitors labor costs and productivity.
Controls expenses and maximizes revenue.
Conducts regular financial analysis and reporting.
People Managment:
Supports recruitment, training, and development department staff.
Conducts performance reviews and provides coaching and mentoring.
Addresses employee relations issues and maintains a positive work environment.
Ensures staff compliance with hotel policies and procedures.
Guest Satisfaction:
Establishes and maintains high standards of guest service.
Monitors guest satisfaction scores and implements improvement plans.
Builds strong relationships with guests and resolves issues to their satisfaction.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel rooms division management.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage and develop staff.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
Knowledge of hotel operating systems and software.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desired Skills
Experience with luxury or resort properties.
Certification in hospitality management.
