Director of Product Management, Growth, Gemini App

Mountain View, California, US Full Time
Snapshot

The Growth & Discovery Team is the engine responsible for driving massive user and revenue expansion for Gemini across all audiences—consumers, businesses, and developers. Operating across the full user lifecycle, the team executes a comprehensive strategy that spans Acquisition (getting people in), Activation (getting them to their "aha" moment quickly), Retention (making Gemini indispensable through feature discovery and valuable use cases), and Expansion/Monetization (converting engaged users into subscribers). We accomplish this through a combination of in-product funnel optimization, global performance marketing, disciplined experimentation powered by an advanced platform, and the exploration of novel growth loops and distribution channels like Viral Sharing and Emerging Markets, ultimately building the essential systems and infrastructure to ensure scalable, efficient, and AI-powered growth for the entire Gemini ecosystem.

About Us

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, full-funnel Growth Executive to be a foundational leader in scaling the Gemini ecosystem globally. This role operates with a General Manager (GM) mindset, owning the end-to-end strategy and execution required to convert users across Google's massive network (Search, Workspace, Photos, etc.) into deeply engaged users of the dedicated Gemini app. You will drive the roadmap to deepen engagement—improving retention, increasing feature usage, and enhancing the overall multi-platform user experience for consumers, developers, and partners. This is a chance to define the growth playbook for one of the most critical products at Google DeepMind.

You will be responsible for driving new user growth and resurrection globally, setting the global growth strategy, and optimizing our growth funnels to acquire new user segments around the world. As a founding member and leader of the growth team, you will be responsible for initiatives spanning the entire user journey with rigorous experimentation and precise measurement. You must possess deep customer empathy, relying on data and UXR to inform decisions grounded in strong product intuition and a clear understanding of key growth metrics.

Success in this role requires exceptional cross-functional leadership. You will partner closely with product, engineering, data science, and design teams across Google DeepMind, Google Labs, and major Google Product Areas to create seamless, relevant, and high-impact experiences. You will own initiatives from ideation and creative development to deployment, measurement, and iteration, building scalable systems that unlock sustainable expansion for Gemini.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and align the global growth strategy across a large product area, driving clarity on goals for new user discovery, acquisition, activation, and engagement
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Engineering, Data Science, and Ops teams across Google DeepMind, Labs, and Google Products (e.g., Search, Workspace, YouTube)
  • Drive product vision for the Gemini App, 1P Integrations (Google Products), and 3P Integrations to ensure full-funnel thinking and rigorous measurement
  • Influence growth strategy by leveraging data, research, and product usage trends, while translating complex AI capabilities into clear, intuitive user interfaces
  • Develop and execute data-driven experiments to optimize product experiences, improve key growth metrics, and maximize long-term expansion
  • Drive execution on high-impact projects by building strong cross-functional relationships and proactively anticipating and removing obstacles
  • Cultivate a culture of operational excellence, analytical rigor, and impact-oriented teams with a "do whatever it takes" mentality to deliver product outcomes
  • Effectively communicate strategy and plans to a diverse set of collaborators, ranging from product/engineering teams to senior management and C-level executives
  • Distill and present the product vision to generate enthusiasm and drive alignment across executive leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Hire, grow, and retain top talent while driving product development alongside world-class engineers, data scientists, and researchers
