Job Description:
At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we’ve tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it’s supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we’re not just here to move money— we’re here to move our global customers forward. As Director of Product for the Core Remittance Experience, you'll own the product that millions of customers interact with every time they send money home (Remitly's flagship consumer experience).
Your scope spans the home screen, core transaction flow, recipient management, transaction tracking, and the holistic send-to-delivery journey. You'll balance conversion, customer satisfaction, and long-term platform health across dozens of countries, currencies, payment methods, and regulatory environments.
You'll operate at the intersection of consumer product craft and platform architecture, shaping both what customers experience and how the underlying system enables rapid experimentation across 170+ countries.
We're investing in AI-forward ways of working, from how we research and prototype to how we build and ship. We expect this leader to push the boundary on what a modern product team looks like. You'll have the autonomy of an early-stage product leader with the scale and resources of a public company, and the mission of a company that genuinely exists to serve underserved communities.
You will report to GM, Core Transfer Experience and lead a team of product managers and designers and partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, and Regional teams.
You Will
Set the product vision and strategy for Remitly's core consumer experience. You will translate customer needs and business goals into a clear roadmap across multiple product surfaces.
Define the next generation of the consumer experience — envisioning how emerging paradigms like agentic AI, intelligent assistants, and proactive interfaces can reshape how customers send money, manage recipients, and interact with Remitly.
Lead a team of product managers and designers, raising the bar on product craft, customer empathy, and strategic thinking across the organization. You'll champion AI tooling within your own teams — accelerating research, prototyping, experimentation, and decision-making to raise the velocity and quality of how your organization builds products.
Drive measurable outcomes across core product metrics — send conversion, transaction completion, repeat usage, and customer satisfaction — through rigorous experimentation and data-informed prioritization. You'll define and own the experience-level success metrics, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across your product area.
Shape the platform architecture in partnership with Engineering leadership, guiding the migration to a composable UI architecture that enables rapid experimentation and market-specific customization without creating bottlenecks.
Build deep customer understanding by partnering with Data Science and User Research. Our customers are often navigating unfamiliar financial systems in a new country. Understanding their context, anxieties, and workflows is essential to getting the product right.
Navigate complexity with clarity. The remittance space involves regulatory constraints, operational partnerships, and multi-country coordination. You'll translate that complexity into crisp product priorities and execution plans your team can rally behind.
Partner cross-functionally with Regional, Growth, and Marketing teams to ensure the core experience supports corridor-specific optimizations and new market expansion. Continuously assess the competitive landscape, market trends, and customer behavior to keep Remitly's experience best-in-class and differentiated.
Represent the core experience in C-level and executive leadership forums, contributing to company-wide planning and strategic decisions as the voice of the customer and the product.
You Have
10+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years leading product teams on consumer-facing products at scale.
A track record of driving measurable product outcomes across multiple teams and surfaces — conversion, retention, engagement, or satisfaction in a transactional or high-frequency consumer product.
Deep experience with end-to-end consumer journeys — onboarding, core task flows, and retention loops — and a sharp intuition for where friction lives and how to remove it.
Strong product judgment and technical fluency. You can engage credibly with engineering leaders on architecture decisions, trade-offs, and sequencing. You don't need to write code, but you need to understand systems well enough to make informed product bets.
Experience leading through platform transitions — migrating architectures, evolving design systems, or scaling products into new markets — while keeping product velocity high and customer experience intact.
A data-driven and experiment-oriented approach to prioritization, combined with strong qualitative instincts and genuine customer empathy.
An AI-forward orientation means you actively integrate AI tooling into product development workflows. This includes from research and analysis to prototyping and experimentation. Moreover, you have a point of view on how AI is changing the way product teams operate.
Experience building and growing product teams, including senior ICs and people managers. You develop talent through clear expectations, coaching, and high standards.
Comfort operating in a complex, cross-functional environment — partnering with engineering, data science, design, and regional or market-specific teams to deliver outcomes.
A pragmatic, customer-obsessed mindset — able to balance ambitious product vision with disciplined execution in complex systems.
Nice to Have
Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services, with familiarity across global payments ecosystems.
Experience with mobile-first consumer products serving diverse, global user populations.
Familiarity with composable architectures, platform-as-a-product models, or agentic AI product patterns.
Background working with immigrant or diaspora communities and a genuine passion for financial inclusion.
