The Director of Pharmacy provides strategic and operational leadership for inpatient pharmacy services at South Pointe Hospital, a community hospital supporting approximately 160+ beds and a broad range of acute care services. This role oversees daily pharmacy operations, including staffing, workflow, medication distribution, and regulatory compliance across service lines such as emergency medicine, general surgery, and internal medicine. The Director leads quality and patient safety initiatives, manages budgeting and resource allocation, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication therapy outcomes. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and developing pharmacy staff, participating in hospital leadership and strategic planning, and driving process improvements and system-wide initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services.

A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Be responsible for department planning and supervising all pharmacy personnel.
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budget, assuming leadership of drug expense portion.
  • Design systems to ensure the Pharmacy Department meets all existing standards.
  • Develop, implement, direct, and monitor pharmaceutical care services.
  • Design quality programs evaluating drug utilization and pharmacy services.
  • Evaluate efficiency and safety of pharmacy services.
  • Recommend programs to enhance performance while staying abreast of current trends.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Advanced degree: PharmD, Master of Science or Master of Business Administration
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in the current state or within 90 days of hire.
  • Three years of management or supervisory experience with direct reports.
  • 10 years in an equivalent role within a health system environment may substitute the advanced degree requirement.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Residency-trained.
  • Experience in a large, tertiary care medical center.
  • Prior pharmacy leadership experience (director or manager)

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical demands include periods of standing and walking.
  • Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions and communication via telephone.
  • May be required to lift and transport up to 10 pounds.
  • Requires normal or corrected vision.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
