Responsibilities:

The primary function of this job is to oversee all operation functions of the Airgas Nitrogen Services, providing strategic vision, guidance and leadership to associates to allow growth of the product line to be the market leader in nitrogen services.  Monitor district operations, maintenance, compliance and operating cost performance.  Maintain a manpower plan to ensure operational personnel are available for customer requirements and associate development so progression can occur.  Lead and promote safety for all associates by enforcing safety policies and procedures throughout the operations.

  • This role is responsible for leading, supervising, managing, motivating, and training the operations management team to achieve the highest standards of safety, performance, and productivity. Ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place to evaluate goal performance, and that reports of progress are provided as required.

  • Additionally, this position resolves operational, personnel, and equipment resource planning and maintenance problems in order to minimize costs and delays. Monitoring monthly profit and loss statements (P&Ls) and managing operating expenses (OPEX) will be crucial. Identify and correct unfavorable trends and improve ratios.

  • Guide the team in developing, implementing, and revising standard operational practices as needed. Also, accurate collection and communication of job data for timely billing, which will involve coordinating interactions between department personnel and sales teams.

  • Key role in creating and recommending annual strategic goals. This will involve developing the operations and capital expenditure budget and coordinating capital expenditures once proper approvals have been received. 

  • Collaboration with the Safety Department will be necessary to address any unsafe work conditions or other safety issues. Similarly, consulting with Human Resources regarding personnel issues and ensuring that disciplinary matters and performance deficiencies are properly discussed and documented in a timely manner.

  • Staying up to date with industry knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks with other technical professionals and vendors, and participating in professional associations

  • Confidentiality will be crucial in protecting the operation of the company. Keep financial, production, sales, and marketing information and plans confidential. Additionally, it will be important to maintain the corporate image and philosophy in all interactions with co-workers, customers, and vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 8+ years of business operations experience, in a leadership capacity and strong focus on business development.

  • 5+ years of supervisory / management experience with proven ability to effectively lead and manage a team.

  • Previous experience managing multiple sites, terminals and/or districts at one time.

  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle with insurance coverage as required by company. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in engineering or operations management preferred.

  • Previous experience with nitrogen services or other service related experience.

  • Previous P&L experience a plus
