Director of Operations, Hollow Metal – West Region

Allegion Hollow Metal is seeking a results-driven Director of Operations to lead our West Region manufacturing and supply chain initiatives. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for 3 different Allegion brands of Hollow Metal facilities located in Southern CA. Your day-to-day home base will be located at the facility in Fontana, CA, and the site leaders from all three locations will report directly to you.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations-Hollow Metal, this role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution to deliver safe, on-time production of highly configured, made-to-order hollow metal doors and frames, delivering outstanding customer experience, employee development, and strong financial performance. You will be responsible for leading strategy and execution for continuous and significant improvements in the areas of safety, quality, customer delivery, lean management, cost, and capital deployment across all three sites.

What You Will Do:

  • Multi-Site Leadership: Oversee all plant operations and related activities for Krieger Specialty Products, SteelCraft West, and DCI. Direct and mentor the site leaders at each location, fostering a capable, engaged team across multiple shifts.
  • Strategic Execution: Develop and execute annual operating plans and budgets for capital, direct and indirect labor, and overhead expenses that will ensure productivity improvements, effective control, and maintenance of existing equipment and facilities.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive operational and supply chain synergies and efficiencies across all three business locations. Continuously drive waste out of the business and support the implementation of the Allegion Enterprise Excellence lean model.
  • Safety & Quality: Drive a safety culture, ensure OSHA compliance, and support the creation of health and well-being activities for all employees. Uphold the highest standards of quality and robust configuration control.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage operations-related plans, budgets for capital, direct and indirect labor, and overhead expenses that will ensure productivity improvements, effective control, and increasing profitability.
  • Customer Focus: Be proactive and responsive to all facets of customer satisfaction including delivery, lead time, and quality in a dynamic business environment that must quickly respond to changes in customer demand.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Oversee coordination of the manufacturing function with sales, marketing, design engineering, and other functional organizations.
  • Growth & Expansion: Actively engage in and support all associated M&A activities, including strategic fit, due diligence, and integration initiatives, to ultimately meet or exceed business case expectations.
  • Travel: Travel is expected routinely between the facilities located in Chino, Pico Rivera, and Fontana. Occasional travel to customer locations and other Allegion facilities located throughout the US.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related professional qualification.
  • 12+ plus years of manufacturing operations leadership experience, with progressive experience overseeing multiple sites or broad functional areas.
  • Experience in the metal fabrication industry (welding, forming, painting) is highly preferred.
  • A “strategic driver” with a clear and compelling vision of where to take the manufacturing operations and supply chain function.
  • Purposeful lean implementation experience that delivered both cultural and operational excellence.
  • Understanding of non-repetitive, configurable manufacturing processes.
  • Exhibit strong managerial skills, drive, and a willingness to actively engage in what needs to be accomplished while coaching, mentoring, teaching, and training site leaders.
  • An effective leader with vision, executive presence, strong emotional intelligence, and strong communications skills.

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Salary Range: $195,000-$228,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
  • Bonus Eligible: Yes
