What is the opportunity?

The Director, Money Movement, reporting directly to the Head of Digital Banking and Lending, is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end strategy, execution, and risk management of all money movement services across RBC Wealth Management. This leader will drive key decisions regarding vendor solutions and the risk-based limits engine, balancing superior client/advisor money availability with robust fraud and risk mitigation. This role is central to modernizing and securing the firm’s digital money transfer ecosystem.

What will you do?

Money Movement Strategy & Vendor Management

  • Define and execute the RBC Wealth Management money movement strategy, covering all products including ACH transfers, Bill Pay, external transfers, wire transfers, and internal journals.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and management of money movement vendor solutions, ensuring technology decisions align with long-term strategic goals for security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive the successful delivery of new and enhanced money movement products and services through client and advisor-facing channels (digital platforms).
  • Act as the primary business owner for money movement functionality, maintaining a deep understanding of industry best practices, payment regulations (e.g., Nacha Rules), and emerging payment technologies (e.g., real-time payments).

Risk Management and Limits Engine Optimization

  • Oversee the strategy and operations of the risk-based limits engine for all money movement types, ensuring optimal tuning of limits and controls.
  • Work closely and iteratively with Risk and Fraud teams to analyze transaction data, identify emerging fraud patterns, and adjust limits and control parameters to balance optimal money availability with the least amount of risk exposure.
  • Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the health, security, and usage of all money movement channels.

Product Management and Digital Delivery

  • Manage money movement products through the full lifecycle, from strategy and development through training and adoption across advisor and client-facing digital channels.
  • Partner with Operations and Technology to ensure seamless, compliant, and efficient processing of all money movement transactions.
  • Product P&L management (including cost of fraud/loss and revenue generated from fees) is a strong plus.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Deep, hands-on experience managing and deploying core money movement products, including ACH, Bill Pay, external transfers, internal journals, and wire transfers.
  • Critical experience working with Risk and Fraud teams on building, tuning, and operating risk-based limits and controls engines for digital transactions.
  • Proven experience in product delivery through digital channels (client portals, mobile apps, advisor platforms).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects and make critical decisions regarding vendor selection and risk trade-offs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct experience managing a product P&L for a payments or money movement product line.
  • Knowledge of payment processing standards (e.g., ISO 20022) and fraud prevention technologies.
  • Prior experience managing vendor relationships for high-stakes payment/money movement services.
