Director of Medical Services | The Wesley Hospital

As a key member of The Wesley hospital executive team, you will work in collaboration with visiting medical practitioners, medical staff, nursing and hospital leaders, to promote safe, evidence-based practice through your oversight of clinical governance, medical workforce, operational excellence, research and medical education.  

 

You will work to enhance clinical engagement and professional standards as well as a culture of respect and teamwork to drive innovation and continuous improvement. You will have a professional reporting line and close working relationship with the Chief Medical Officer of UnitingCare Hospitals. 

 

Your part in our Wesley Hospital team  

  • Provide expert clinical leadership across hospital operations and support continuous improvement to safely deliver excellence in care  

  • Drive innovation in models of care, clinical pathways, and service delivery 

  • Ensure robust medical governance processes including credentialing and performance   

  • Lead junior doctor recruitment, management, education and training  

  • Promote strong stakeholder relationships with service providers, educational and professional institutions, funders and other healthcare agencies  

  • Foster a culture of professional respect, collaboration and innovation  

 

What makes a difference for us? 

  • AHPRA registered medical practitioner and professional medical college membership  

  • Significant experience in senior medical leadership and management roles  

  • Proven ability to lead clinical governance and drive strategic outcomes 

  • Strong understanding of private hospital operations and medical workforce dynamics 

  • Compelled clinical excellence and patient centered care  

  • Ability to liaise, negotiate and build consensus with Visiting Medical Practitioners and medical staff, balancing hospital and clinical requirements 

  • Strong communication skills underpinned by authenticity, transparency and valuing the voice of others  

  •  Formal management and leadership qualifications are desirable but not essential
