JOB DESCRIPTION
USC Athletics is looking to hire a Director of Marketing to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating marketing and promotional efforts for USC Athletics, with a concentration on beach volleyball, women’s volleyball, men’s volleyball, and other Olympic sports, and with secondary responsibilities for men’s basketball on-court promotions and activations for home games.
Additional requirements include overseeing all marketing, membership goals, and execution of the Trojan Fever Rewards program for USC students, creating and executing student marketing efforts (specifically with men’s basketball), and serving as the lead liaison for campus spirit groups and programs.
Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, the Director of Marketing will work in collaboration with the department’s external team, sports programs, and other units within the Athletics department. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated collegiate sports marketing experience, an ability to design and implement marketing plans for sports, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education is preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes is preferred.

Roles and responsibilities:
Manages and coordinates marketing and promotional efforts for USC Athletics, with a concentration on beach volleyball, women’s volleyball, and men’s volleyball and aquatic sports, and with secondary responsibilities for men’s basketball on-court promotions and activations for home games.
Oversees, coordinates, and manages all marketing, fan experience, digital and traditional advertising, and promotional efforts for volleyball teams.
Overall marketing and advertising of USC Athletics.
Supports season ticket campaigns as well as the coordination/implementation of promotions and events surrounding revenue sports.
Develops and executes fan engagement efforts with an emphasis on growing the fan base.
Creates promotional initiatives that educate, inspire, and engage external audiences.
Football & men’s basketball support:
Serves as an integral part of football & men’s basketball planning.
Lead gameday activations with a team of interns.
Supports Director of Game Day Presentation on sponsored content ideation and execution.
Student marketing (Trojan Fever Rewards):
Oversees and manages all marketing, membership goals, and execution of Trojan Fever Rewards program for USC students.
Creates and executes all student marketing efforts, specifically with men’s basketball.
Serves as lead liaison for campus spirit groups and program.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and three years of experience. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
Thorough knowledge of marketing and business management required.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts and methodology of marketing required.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required.
Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
Demonstrated sports marketing experience; experience with the sports of basketball, volleyball, and/or other Olympic sports ideal.
Ability to design and implement marketing plans for sports.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in basic office support software (Microsoft Office).
Graphic design experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and traditional graphic design software.
Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, etc.)

Salary Range
The annual base salary range for this position is $82,000 - $95,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
