Job Description

    What is the opportunity?   

    The Personal Banking Marketing team is seeking a Director of Marketing for its Savings & Investments (S&I) business. The Director will be responsible for defining and overseeing marketing strategy and go-to-market plans that deliver against high-growth business goals across Savings, Term Investments, Mutual Funds Distribution, and Financial Planning.

    We are seeking an innovative marketing leader and bold thinker, who thrives at the intersection of creativity and performance. The successful candidate marries strategic vision with an innate ability to translate ideas into action, and action into measurable results. Specifically, they will identify and leverage the optimal mix of paid and owned channels with bold creative to accelerate RBC Investments’ product consideration, brand preference, client acquisition, and profitable growth.

    Deeply curious and collaborative, the Director will partner broadly across the enterprise to uncover untapped business, market, and consumer insights, and use those as a launchpad for breakthrough marketing strategies. They will lead the delivery of a differentiated consumer-facing Investments value proposition, messaging platform, and creative strategy and champion storytelling across integrated campaigns. And, with a results-driven mindset and strong data discipline, the incumbent will build, measure, and optimize client acquisition plans across mass, digital, and social media platforms, performance marketing, and RBC’s extensive physical, digital, and mobile distribution network.

    What will you do?  

    • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of marketers, nurturing and growing diverse talent. As part of the Investments Marketing Senior Management Team, foster a strong, inclusive, and empowering team-wide culture.
    • Collaborate with Lines of Business, other Marketing leaders, and various cross-functional partners to translate Savings & Investments business goals and priorities into actionable marketing strategies and full-funnel campaigns that generate results.
    • Cocreate and bring to life differentiated customer-facing Investments value propositions that capture attention, drive consideration, and power RBC brand preference amid a highly competitive marketplace.   
    • Drive end-to-end campaign excellence, bringing together teams, channel experts, and stakeholders, to deliver the best of RBC and elevate creative and media impact across paid and owned channels.
    • Oversee high-impact growth marketing campaigns that deliver profitable acquisition, implementing rigor around attribution and outcome-driven experimentation, to cotinually optimize media investments.
    • Immerse yourself in internal and external investing insights, and understand our product suite, business levers, and their context within RBC’s ecosystem, to identify and act upon opportunities as they arise.
    • Continuously pursue evolving consumer, market, and media trends and data, to inform innovative strategies and hyper-relevant creative that’s anchored in insight.
    • Implement disciplined KPI establishment, measurement frameworks, analyses, and reporting, to quantify and play-back the return on our marketing investment across all we do.
    • Be an advocate for rigorous prioritization of the most impactful activities, to drive highest outcomes and to optimize team capacity and budgets. Identify gaps and opportunities to increase efficiencies within complex processes or operating models.
    • Oversee and maximize a complex marketing budget, ensuring rigorous forecasting processes and disciplined investment.
    • Foster senior relationships with external agency partners (creative, media, etc.), encouraging transparency, respect, and effectiveness between our teams.  

    What do you need to succeed?

    Must-have  

    • 12+ years of integrated Marketing experience, ideally within Financial Services, with deep knowledge of creative and media best practices across mass, digital, and social media platforms, mobile, and performance marketing.
    • Track record of building, driving, and quantifying profitable acquisition marketing plans anchored in business goals.
    • Demonstrated strategic instincts, analytical mindset, and decision-making skills. Considers ‘why’ in addition to ‘what’.
    • Proven ability to inspire, evaluate, and sell-in creative; uses instinct plus data to elevate the work keeping a laser focus on what resonates best with the target audience.   
    • Strong leadership profile, with exceptional collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work in a collaborative way with cross-functional teams and across the organization.
    • Passion for innovation and challenging status quo, with the ability to identify, articulate, and sell-in new, bold ideas to various teams and levels using data and strong storytelling skills.
    • Change-agent who can adapt and thrive within a rapidly evolving category and internal environment, and who is able to effectively bring people along with them.
    • Curiosity and appetite to learn about emerging AI tools and build future-ready skills.
