Position Summary
The Director of Incident and Change is responsible for leading and managing the enterprise-wide Command Center operations to ensure the stability, resilience, and performance of critical IT services. This role oversees the Incident Management and Change Management functions, driving operational excellence and minimizing business disruption through proactive monitoring, rapid response, and structured governance. The Director will establish and enforce best practices for incident detection, escalation, and resolution, while ensuring all changes to the IT environment are assessed, approved, and implemented with minimal risk. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration across infrastructure, application, and business teams to maintain service continuity and meet organizational objectives.
Position Responsibilities
Command Center Leadership
Direct the 24x7 IT Operations Command Center team responsible for monitoring, triaging, and resolving critical incidents.
Develop and maintain operational dashboards, KPIs, and reporting for service performance and incident trends.
Incident Management
Own the enterprise Incident Management process, ensuring rapid identification, classification, and resolution of incidents.
Lead major incident response efforts, including coordination of technical resources and executive communication.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR).
Oversee staffing, succession planning, training programs, and performance evaluations to build an effective incident response team.
Change Management
Oversee the Change Management process to ensure all changes are properly assessed for risk, impact, and compliance.
Chair Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and enforce adherence to ITIL-based change policies.
Drive automation and standardization of change workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
Collaboration & Communication
Act as the primary liaison between IT operations, infrastructure teams, application owners, and business stakeholders during incidents and planned changes.
Provide executive-level updates and post-incident reviews with actionable recommendations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field and 10 years of experience in an information technology field, 5 years of which must be in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
