Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for the various administrative and management functions related to facility planning, construction, operations, and management. This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Vice President for Agriculture - Extension.

Job Duties:
Responsible for providing a safe work environment, including all safety matters related to the buildings, grounds and personnel. Administers the building security (camera) system and the employee ID badge system. Maintains key lock system for facilities. Coordinates with UA-Little Rock Department of Public Safety on facility security.  With SAVP’s office, develops, administers and trains personnel on facility emergency procedures (fire, inclement weather, etc.).

Monitors and maintains all utilities and building systems. Identifies and completes building repairs. Performs or procures preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment. Responsible for reporting and handling Property and Casualty issues and disposal of Extension equipment through the Arkansas Office of Marketing and Redistribution (DFA).

Prepares and manages budgets for Facilities Management operations. Purchases material and supplies for facility. Also monitors and analyzes utilities and other facilities maintenance costs and makes recommendations for improvement. Estimates repair costs and prepares capital budgets. Provides support for Administrators. Works with Administration on special projects.

Responsible for supervising all building janitorial services and grounds maintenance. Supervises front desk/switchboard operations and scheduling and billing of educational classrooms and auditorium. Monitors the vending area.

Operates motor pool for Cooperative Extension faculty and staff. Manages fleet gas cards and vehicle maintenance records.

Supervises shipping/receiving and warehouse operations. Supports office moves and relocations. Assembles furniture. Oversees the Postal Center and processing of incoming and outgoing mail. Processes FedEx and UPS package transfers.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business administration, or a facilities management related field, or equivalent professional certifications, or at least five (5) years of maintenance related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to speak and write clearly.

  • Ability to manage staff.

  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Physical and mental ability to effectively perform duties and responsibilities related to the job, which may include long and irregular hours of work.
