About the Role

As the Director of Editorial, you will serve as the managing editor for all content created by the Thought Leadership and Research team in North America. You will own a clearly articulated editorial strategy that defines what the team is focused on and how they deliver against it. Your editorial calendar will be a central tool for planning and alignment, and you will be accountable for keeping it organized, useful, and forward-looking.

Your top priority is managing the performance of the team. You will lead and inspire a team of editorial strategists to produce excellent written content for owned and sponsored channels, including the Workday Blog and Workday Perspectives. You will cast a clear vision and set aspirational goals for both the team and these flagship publications.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive editorial strategy and calendar that reflects company priorities and team goals

  • Leading and mentoring a team of editorial strategists to create high-quality, compelling written content across owned and sponsored channels

  • Building collaborative, cross-functional relationships with peers across communications, marketing, product, events, and other teams to ensure alignment with company priorities

  • Developing a deep understanding of Workday's priorities and translating them into editorial plans for the year ahead

  • Owning and sharing metrics that demonstrate the impact and reach of editorial content

  • Contributing to team culture as a visible, engaged leader who brings energy and reliability to every initiative

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in editorial, content strategy, journalism, or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience leading and fostering high-performing teams

Other Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in content strategy, including the ability to plan, develop, and manage editorial content across multiple channels, understand audience needs, maintain a consistent brand voice, and measure success through analytics

  • Demonstrated team leadership ability, including experience guiding, inspiring, and developing a group of writers and editors toward a shared vision, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and helping individuals grow in their careers

  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, with experience building relationships and ensuring alignment across communications, marketing, product, and other departments to deliver unified, high-impact content

  • Excellent editing skills, with a sharp eye for clarity, accuracy, tone, and storytelling, and the ability to elevate the quality of content across the team

  • Sound judgment in editorial decision-making, including the ability to prioritize topics, balance multiple priorities, and make thoughtful calls on messaging and positioning in fast-moving environments

A spirit of creativity, with a willingness to generate fresh ideas and innovative approaches to content, and the confidence to take thoughtful risks that set Workday's editorial voice apart

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email
