The Director of Communications & Events leads the strategy, execution, and ongoing modernization of Floor & Decor’s communications and enterprise events. This role ensures our nationwide associate base receives the right information, in the right way, at the right time, while reinforcing culture, priorities, and leadership voice in support of business outcomes.
You'll Be Successful With
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in communications or employee engagement roles, including people leadership experience, supporting a large, distributed workforce.
- Proven ability to develop communication strategies, governance models, and multi-channel content plans.
- Experience leading large-scale enterprise events or leadership meetings.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills, including executive messaging support and the ability to simplify complex information.
- Experience using modern communication tools and platforms, including digital channels, video, and introductory AI content tools.
- Strong project management, organizational, and partnership-building skills, with experience managing internal and external creative and event partners.
- Proficient in developing presentations and communication toolkits.
Your Day Consists of
- Lead and execute an enterprise communications strategy aligned to company priorities, culture, and leadership expectations, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, particularly during periods of change or sensitive business moments.
- Own content strategy, governance, and standards for Get Amped, including tone, voice, simplicity, and leader communication expectations, to ensure messages are clear, relevant, and actionable for a distributed workforce.
- Partner with executives and functional leaders to shape effective messaging, including scripts, presentations, talking points, and video-based communications, using modern approaches such as video, personalization, and emerging AI tools.
- Design and enable two-way communication and listening mechanisms, applying an associate experience lens to ensure communications support associates at different stages of their journey and surface insights to leaders.
- Use strategic storytelling to translate Floor & Decor’s mission, values, and leadership behaviors into everyday understanding, reinforcing a consistent and connected culture.
- Establish and use measurement practices that combine data, associate feedback, and engagement insights to continuously improve communication effectiveness and business impact.
- Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of major company events, including enterprise meetings, leadership forums, and the annual CEM Meeting, creating brand-focused experiences that bring culture and priorities to life.
- Manage event vendors, production partners, logistics, and budgets to deliver high-quality, scalable experiences.
- Lead, coach, and develop a communications and events team, building efficient processes, workflows, and tools that streamline intake, approvals, and content distribution across the organization.
- Partner with HR, Learning, Operations, Merchandising, and other stakeholders to support change management efforts and reinforce leadership behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational priorities and business needs.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
