Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company

The Collections team at BILL plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s financial health and supporting customer relationships. As Director of Collections, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for developing and executing strategies that optimize collections performance, minimize risk, and drive operational excellence. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of collections at BILL, influence cross-functional initiatives, and deliver measurable business impact in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Collections function (SMBs), aligning with BILL’s broader business objectives and growth plans.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a diverse team of collections professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusion.
  • Design and implement innovative processes, policies, and technologies to maximize recovery rates while ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Analyze portfolio performance, identify trends, and proactively address emerging risks through data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk, Product, Customer Success, and Finance to drive end-to-end process improvements and support new product launches.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting regularly to senior leadership and recommending course corrections as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies, championing best practices in risk management and customer treatment.

  • Proven leadership experience in collections, credit risk, or related financial operations within a fintech or high-growth environment; focused on SMB collections efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive measurable business results.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging data to inform decisions and optimize processes.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, high-performance team culture.

The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Draper, UT. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL’s bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.
