ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides clinical leadership, support and management to the RAI team. Ensures consistent work processes across the organization related to clinical assessment and associated regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a key member of the Skilled Nursing Services clinical team to develop strategies and to execute plans for successful business practices across the organization.
  • Demonstrates collaborative leadership across the System to maintain productive and accountable working relationships related to assigned projects.
  • Maintains current knowledge on state and federal regulation and changes to requirements related to assessment; timely evaluates, communicates and provides recommendations to key leadership across the System.
  • Responsible for ensuring regular compliance audits of clinical assessments are scheduled and completed. Reviews audit results and provides a monthly/quarterly report of completed audits, scores, trends and actions.
  • Works closely with financial team members to assure assessment and reimbursement concerns are resolved.
  • Participates in the investigation of compliance issues related to areas of expertise.
  • Conducts/Coordinates organization wide training related to the RAI process, Case Mix, PPS and other pertinent areas.
  • Reviews/revises protocols, tools and training, as necessary, related to areas of responsibility.
  • Delivers both small and large group training that promotes a successful clinical assessment team.
  • Represents the organization in professional organizations and consults with profession experts for current state of practice and trends in the provision of quality services.
  • Develops and/or maintains external working/collaborative relationships as appropriate.
  • Attends and participates in workshops, seminars, etc. to keep abreast of current changes in applicable field of expertise, as well as to maintain professional licensure, certification and status.
  • Complies with Corporate Compliance and Privacy and Security programs.
  • Attends and participates in mandatory in-services training.
  • Honors patients’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.
  • Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
  • Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledgeable of, and able to operationalize rules and regulations governing patient care and treatment related to interdisciplinary RAI process and reimbursement.
  • Able to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing to individuals/groups of varying educational backgrounds.
  • Expert knowledge in the areas of RAI, reimbursement and appeals;
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, department heads, administrators, and health service teams to promote positive outcomes.
  • Communicates well with other associates, patients, family members, and visitors providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or enrolled in a program to obtain degree.  
  • Minimum of five years experience with MDS/RAI Management, education, and direct leadership.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or compact state.
  • RAC-CT Certification

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides supervisory oversight for Regional RAI Specialists.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format.  The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or compact state;
  • Resident Assessment Certification.
