JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Serves as the primary fundraising leader for their assigned region, responsible for advancing the mission of the Centerstone Foundation through strategic philanthropy and relationship development. 

This position manages all aspects of regional fundraising, including major gifts, annual giving, corporate and foundation partnerships, and special campaigns, to support Centerstone programs within the assigned geography. The Director oversees a portfolio of approximately 100-200 mid-major and major donors and prospects, with a focus on securing and stewarding gifts of $500-$10,000+. 

The Director partners closely with regional executives, program leaders, and Foundation colleagues to identify funding priorities, design philanthropic strategies, and inspire a culture of giving across Centerstone.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Major and Planned Giving 

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of 100-200 individual, corporate, and foundation donors with capacity for gifts of $500 to $10,000+. 
  • Develop personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each prospect, aligned with the Foundation’s strategic priorities. 
  • Secure leadership and major gifts in support of campaigns, initiatives, and programs. 
  • Implement planned giving strategies in coordination with Foundation leadership and legal counsel. 
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of donor activity in the CRM system. 

Regional Philanthropy Leadership 

  • Serve as the regional “face” of the Centerstone Foundation, representing its mission and values across local communities. 
  • Collaborate with regional executives and program teams to identify funding needs and translate them into compelling cases for support. 
  • Design and execute an annual fundraising plan for the region, inclusive of major gifts, annual giving, corporate sponsorships, and events. 
  • Manage the regional fundraising budget and track progress toward goals. 
  • Lead and coordinate the work of any regional development staff, contractors, or volunteers. 

Collaboration and Organizational Alignment 

  • Partner with system and regional leadership to foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. 
  • Collaborate with the communications and marketing teams to ensure consistent donor messaging and visibility for impact stories. 
  • Leverage the influence and networks of board members, executives, and community champions to build new relationships and open doors. 
  • Support system-wide fundraising initiatives, campaigns, and events as needed. 

Donor Stewardship and Recognition 

  • Ensure all donors receive timely and meaningful acknowledgment, reporting, and recognition. 
  • Write or collaborate on proposals, letters, and stewardship communications. 
  • Plan and execute donor recognition events, tours, or engagement opportunities. 
  • Maintain high standards of ethical fundraising consistent with national fundraising professional bodies and Foundation policies. 

Planning, Budgeting and Reporting 

  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan with measurable goals and timelines. 
  • Regularly report progress toward goals and recommend strategic adjustments as needed. 
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly business reviews and board reporting. 
  • Ensure data accuracy, budget compliance, and confidentiality of donor information. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices, including moves management and donor lifecycle strategies. 
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 
  • High level of comfort engaging with executives, board members, and high-net-worth individuals. 
  • Ability to synthesize program information into compelling donor messaging. 
  • Skilled in CRM and donor database management, with attention to accuracy and confidentiality. 
  • Strategic, proactive, and self-directed, with the ability to balance multiple priorities. 
  • Passion for behavioral health, health equity, and the mission of Centerstone. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Years of Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive fundraising experience in a nonprofit or healthcare setting. 
  • Demonstrated success securing gifts ($500-$10,000+) and managing complex donor relationships. 
  • Experience with planned giving, annual giving, or capital campaigns preferred. 
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring development staff preferred. 

Other Requirements 

  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of insurance. 
  • Ability to travel within assigned region of Tennessee and occasionally out of state.

$90,000.00--$135,030.00
