About the Opportunity

Democracy Prep Public Schools seeks a strategic and systems-oriented Director of Data Strategy and Academic Accountability to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the network’s core academic and school operational data systems, analysis, and reporting.

This role sits at the intersection of Academics, Schools, and Operations and is responsible for ensuring that leaders across the organization have consistent access to clear, reliable, and actionable data that drives decision-making and improves scholar outcomes.

The Director of Data Strategy and Academic Accountability serves as the network’s lead architect of academic and operational data systems. This includes overseeing dashboards, academic performance reporting, grading systems, school operational data tools, and state assessment data infrastructure. This role also includes managing the data visualization and culture - ensuring that consistent reporting methodologies are leveraged to tell a consistent, cohesive story.

In addition to maintaining and improving key systems, the Director will partner closely with the Academic Team and Schools Team to ensure that data is translated into meaningful insights that strengthen instruction, improve operational effectiveness, and support strategic planning across the network.

While this role does not directly manage staff, it holds significant leadership responsibility through ownership of critical network systems and through partnership with leaders across multiple teams, including schools.

What you will do

Lead Network Academic Data Systems
  • Oversee the design, maintenance, and improvement of the network’s academic data systems.
  • Manage and improve dashboards that track scholar academic performance across schools.
  • Ensure alignment between curriculum systems, assessments, grading systems, and academic reporting tools.
  • Oversee the collection, organization, and analysis of state assessment data and ensure timely dissemination to school leaders.
Manage Core Academic and School Data Tools

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of key data systems across the network, including:

  • Gradebook and SIS auditing systems
  • Student report card processes
  • Promotional Status System (PSS)
  • Academic performance dashboards
  • Grading control sheets and grade normalization systems
  • ACT Goals tracking tools
  • ADMS tools
  • State assessment dashboards
  • School leader dashboards and school report card reporting
  • EdTech system data integration and management
  • Incident IQ academic data support systems
Strengthen School Operational Data Systems

Partner with the Schools Team to support key operational data systems that ensure effective school operations, including:

  • Master scheduling systems
  • Summer school setup and reporting
  • Trimester/quarter data closeout processes
  • DeansList reporting structures
  • Transcript auditing and transcript tools
  • Attendance monitoring and validation tools
  • School review data systems
  • Suspension and discipline data reporting
Provide Strategic Data Analysis and Insight
  • Conduct analyses of scholar performance and operational metrics to inform network strategy.
  • Partner with academic leaders to identify trends in academic data and support instructional improvement.
  • Provide data analysis and reporting that supports decision-making for network and school leaders.
  • Build data visualizations and reports that translate complex datasets into clear insights.
Build Organizational Capacity to Use Data
  • Train school-based and network staff on effective use of academic data systems.
  • Develop documentation, protocols, and best practices for data management.
  • Support school leaders and academic leaders in using data to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and streamline existing data systems.
Support Cross-Functional Strategic Initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director of Academics, Special Services, CAO, and Schools Team leadership to support network academic initiatives.
  • Participate in school reviews and partnership days to ensure strong data insight informs instructional planning.
  • Support the development of new tools and systems that improve network-wide decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program is required
  • This opportunity is best suited for individuals who have a degree in a quantitative field and/or experience maintaining data information systems and maintaining the day-to-day operating functions of a team, preferably in education/non-profit environments. 
  • Please note, this position is not a remote position and will require the ability for the hired individual to be present in person.

Compensation 

Salary range is $140,000 - $155,000 commensurate with your experience. Democracy Prep employees are provided with a benefits package that includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, 403B matching, and parental leave.
