Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership & direction for the SBA Engineering Operations team supporting multiple technologies.

  • Responsible for maintaining adequate Engineering Talent to support live networks and new emerging Network Technologies

  • Responsible for Product Evaluation, vendor recommendation, & vendor oversight & management

  • Responsible for staying connected with the vertical industries we are supporting.

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with industry and corporate peers, Markets, suppliers, and project members.

  • Support new and emerging products and services; develop technical job aide while ensuring the integrity of any new service SBA may provide.

  • Responsible for Tier III and engineering-level support to the NOC. This may include on-call support during off hours, holidays, and weekends to ensure customer SLAs are met.

  • Provide Tier III Support for the entire SBA lines of business, including:

    • Integration and Commissioning Support of all SBA Products and Services (DAS, MW, EaaS, MECs, DC, etc.)

    • Customer on Boarding

    • Circuit Configuration, testing, and acceptance

    • IXP/ISP (UIX) Design, Operations & Management

    • Data Center Gears integration (switches, servers, network gear)

    • Network Related Remote Hand

    • Sales Support Liaison

    • Edge IT Support

    • Tool Support & Development

  • Evaluate, recommend, design Networks, and establish equipment standards.

  • Smart Hands Services – Develops offerings and Manages value added Network Services

  • Works very closely with Strategy/New Business and Sales team leadership and provide guidance on new opportunities and network design.

  • The Director will be responsible for overseeing the Engineering functions associated with operational support of SBA product offerings such as DAS, MECs, Data Centers, Microwave, and many others.

  • Business/Process owner for the SBA Engineering Assessment Review (SAR) process. Employs SAR to ensure operational systems, products & services are securely deployed in SBA data centers and networks.

  • This position will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Engineering audit program for SBA services, systems, and network products, including SBA data centers.

  • Business/Process owner for Engineering audit program performs programmatic, proactive network scanning & audit for Engineering vulnerability, overall Engineering posture and Engineering policy compliance.

  • Responsible for SBA’s Engineering audit & incident response capability, including coordination with other SBA groups such as SBA Edge, Construction, Sales, etc.

  • Responsible for developing and implementing SBA Network Engineering policies and supports other SBA Engineering policies.

  • Provide technical training to the NOC to support new products and services.

  • Document technical job aides for all products and services that the NOC supports.

  • Recommend and periodically review technical field service alerts for increased network performance and improved customer experience. Establish short- and long-term goals for technology solutions and influence positive change.

  • Actively participate in cross-functional groups to solve technical problems. Utilize a network of professional relationships to collect and disseminate information, build support and consensus with stakeholders to meet desired objectives.

  • Must have strong leadership skills and be able to remain calm and focused in stressful situations. This includes the ability to maintain order and a methodical troubleshooting approach that is focused on service restoration. It also requires cross-organizational leadership skills that will build healthy relationship and obtain required support through professional and productive methods.

  • Works closely with the core work team to identify potential issues and/or opportunities within or related to the customers experience.  

  • Works on the most complex and unique issues requiring in-depth evaluation to generate solutions to business problems.

  • Applies a high level of critical thinking and ingenuity to successfully resolve complex technical issues.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Work with Talent Acquisition to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ a talented and diverse group of high performing team members.

  • Provide oversight and direction to team members in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

  • Coach, mentor and develop team members, including overseeing new team member onboarding and providing career development planning and growth opportunities.

  • Empower team members to take ownership of their job and goals. Delegate responsibilities as needed and provide routine constructive feedback on performance.

  • Create a culture that is consistent with the organization's focus on team member engagement and that aligns with the organization's mission, vision and values.

  • Lead team members using a performance management and development focused approach to assist in goal setting, two-way feedback, and performance development planning.

  • Lead team members to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • 5-10 years' experience in leading a multi-technology operations center providing 24x7 support.

  • Experience in managing people with varying technical skill levels.

  • 3-5 years' experience in managing highly technical engineers.

  • Domestic travel required 10% of the time to visit data centers and other future SBA sites.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and advanced proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.

Certifications:

  • Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCIP-DC) required.

  • CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Technician preferred.

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) preferred.
