Director, Materials Management - PES

Position Purpose

The Director, Materials Management is responsible for leading the development, standardization, and execution of best-in-class material planning and inventory management processes across all North America manufacturing sites within the Power Efficiency Solutions (PES) segment. This role ensures the organization maintains optimal inventory levels, reduces waste and working capital, and sustains uninterrupted material supply to support production schedules. Serving as the central authority for inventory strategy, process discipline, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration, the Director drives standardization, data integrity, and efficiency across the global supply chain network.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Oversight of materials planning and inventory management performance across all PES NA manufacturing sites.
  • Ownership of company-wide standards related to lead times, safety stock, lot sizing, replenishment, and scheduling processes.
  • Leadership of continuous improvement initiatives for Raw and Work-In-Progress (RIP) inventory performance.
  • Accountability for process governance, performance reporting, and corrective action execution in coordination with Operations, Sourcing, and Finance.

Core Responsibilities

1. Materials Management Standardization

  • Develop and maintain standard work for: lead time setting, safety stock level determination, and lot sizing methodology.
  • Ensure all plants maintain a repeatable and sustainable Plan for Every Part (PFEP) process.
  • Provide governance, documentation, and training materials to drive adherence and process maturity across sites.

2. Replenishment Processes

  • Support deployment of lean replenishment systems (e.g., Kanban, Supermarket, and other pull-based methods).
  • Partner with site materials teams to optimize part flow and improve internal logistics efficiency.

3. Production & Master Scheduling

  • Define and deploy standard work for production scheduling and master scheduling to ensure consistent and reliable execution across plants.
  • Establish performance metrics and audit routines to ensure alignment between capacity plans and material availability.

4. Transaction Efficiency

  • Lead initiatives to enhance ERP transaction accuracy, data integrity, and process efficiency across all plants.
  • Drive simplification and automation where possible to improve transactional throughput and reduce non-value-added activities.

5. Inventory Optimization (Raw & WIP Focus)

  • Partner with Sourcing and Operations to implement continuous improvement projects aimed at structural inventory reduction.
  • Oversee weekly and monthly RIP (Raw and Work-In-Progress) reporting and ensure timely execution of improvement actions.
  • Drive rigor in root cause analysis and corrective actions for inventory and service-level deviations.
  • Maintain and review inventory dashboards and KPIs to measure and communicate progress toward business objectives.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field required.
  • MBA or APICS/CPIM certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in materials management, production control, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success implementing standardized processes and systems across multiple sites.
  • Strong background in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
