Position Overview
Reporting to the AVP, Business Advisors, the Director of Managed Care is accountable for leading a team of Regional Directors who deliver consulting services to specialty practices. The role plays a key part in advancing strategy, ensuring consistent execution across regions, and evolving managed care advisory offerings in alignment with organizational priorities and the needs of our provider customers. Acting as a connector between senior leadership, regional teams, and specialty practices, the Manager ensures alignment with organizational goals, managed care best practices, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of Regional Directors, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Oversee the delivery of consulting services to specialty provider practices, ensuring the development of innovative market and payer strategies for managed care contracting. In addition to this oversight, the role will continue to directly support customers through ongoing consulting services.
In collaboration with the AVP, Business Advisors, develops and implements strategies to support evolving needs of our specialty customers.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive consistent execution of managed care initiatives.
Guide the team in reviewing, negotiating, and renewing managed care contracts, ensuring best practices and compliance with company policies.
Ensure the ongoing development and implementation of managed care policies and procedures and facilitate training and access to resources for the managed care team.
Monitor and report on managed care trends, market activities, and competitive developments; recommend and implement strategic responses as needed.
Collaborate with leadership to support contract administration, data integration, and communication of managed care initiatives, while also developing strategies for organizational growth.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on business-wide initiatives, fostering cross-departmental collaboration to enhance overall performance and support long-term business objectives.
Contribute to the creation and dissemination of educational resources, best practices, and consultative offerings to support specialty practices and internal teams.
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).
Education
Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
Critical Skills
Minimum of 7 years of progressive healthcare management experience in a managed care environment, with prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Extensive experience negotiating managed care contracts and developing reimbursement strategies for specialty providers.
Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement models, including fee-for-service and value-based care.
Exceptional communication, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to present to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across multiple regions.
Proficiency with analytical tools and software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce.com, and Smart Sheet.
Experience in specialty markets such as Oncology, Rheumatology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Gastroenterology is highly desirable.
Builds and sustains strong, trusted partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, enabling effective collaboration across functions and initiatives.
Up to 40% travel to support strategy, business alignment, and team collaboration.

Regular engagement with corporate and field management, customers, specialty providers, payers, and other key stakeholders through phone, email, and video conference.
