Job Summary

The Director, Loss Mitigation Portfolio Performance & Legal Support provides enterprise leadership over loss‑mitigation performance, quality, and compliance. This role is accountable for setting strategy, governance, and operating standards for in‑line reviews, complex underwriting decisions, litigated case timelines as directed by Legal, and the credit‑qualifying assumption process.

The Director ensures consistent application of regulatory requirements and investor/insurer guidelines, drives risk mitigation and performance outcomes, and partners closely with Legal, Compliance, Servicing Operations, and Executive Leadership to protect the organization from curtailment, compliance, and reputational risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead enterprise loss‑mitigation performance and provide legal support (e.g., deliver required documents to Litigation; gain approvals from the investor for loss mitigation solutions).

• Serve as senior subject‑matter expert for complex or escalated Loss Mitigation requests.

• Direct in‑line reviews and set underwriting validation standards.

• Drive corrective action plans based on quality trends.

• Oversee timelines and assumption governance as directed by the Legal team.

• Provide FHA DE‑level oversight.

• Ensure compliance with FHA/HUD, VA, USDA, GSE, and federal regulations.

• Lead audit and examination readiness.

• Partner with Legal, Foreclosure, Servicing, Compliance, and Technology.

• Define and monitor KPIs; sponsor process and technology improvements.

• Lead and develop senior managers and specialized teams.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of progressive mortgage servicing or underwriting experience.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• Expertise in loss‑mitigation programs and servicing regulations.

• Leadership experience with performance, quality, or litigation‑adjacent teams.

• Proficiency with MSP/Black Knight or similar platforms.

• Litigation, foreclosure, or bankruptcy process experience.

• FHA, VA, USDA, or GSE servicing background.

• Process improvement expertise (LEAN, Kaizen, Six Sigma).

• Advanced analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
