Role Description:

Leveraged Finance Credit supports the development, due diligence, approval and ongoing risk management of leveraged transactions for corporate and financial sponsor clients, including LBOs, acquisitions, refinancings, recapitalisations and restructurings.

As a Director, you will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with delegated authority, leading complex transactions, managing a challenging portfolio, and representing Credit in front of senior internal and external stakeholders. The role requires strong judgment across risk/reward, governance, client interaction and people leadership, with increasing visibility at regional and global levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership and leadership of complex and high‑profile leveraged finance transactions from origination through approval and execution.
  • Lead credit due diligence, financial analysis, forecasting, stress testing and risk rating assessments for sophisticated structures.
  • Exercise delegated credit authority prudently and provide well‑considered recommendations on escalated decisions.
  • Review and negotiate complex legal documentation (loan, intercreditor, security and hedging documents), working closely with Legal and Business.
  • Hold primary credit responsibility for a portfolio of complex, often cross‑border names, including sponsor‑backed and higher‑risk credits.
  • Act as a senior Credit representative, engaging confidently with Financial Sponsors, Investment Banking and Leveraged Finance, Corporate Banking, Sales & Trading, Risk, Legal and other control functions
  • Navigate the organisation strategically, leveraging strong internal relationships to deliver outcomes efficiently.
  • Demonstrate executive presence and credibility when partnering with more senior bankers and regional leadership.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of liquidity, capital, returns and revenue implications of transaction structures.
  • Drive operational excellence within the team, encouraging simplification, consistency and high standards.
  • Lead or contribute to cross‑departmental initiatives that improve process, controls, efficiency and risk management.
  • Invest time in mentoring, coaching and developing talent, building depth and future leadership capability.
  • Serve as a culture carrier, modelling the highest standards of conduct, accountability and collaboration.

Skills that will help:

  • Significant experience in leveraged finance credit, preferably within a global bank
  • Proven track record of leading complex transactions and managing senior stakeholders
  • Experience managing people and/or complex portfolios across jurisdictions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for senior approval forums
  • Ability to manage regulatory scrutiny and senior governance
