The Director, Legal is responsible for providing day-to-day legal support to Everise’s U.S. and global operations, with a primary focus on employment and labor law, litigation management, and commercial risk support.
This role partners closely with HR, Operations, Finance, and business leaders to manage legal risk in a high-growth, multi-jurisdictional services environment and to deliver practical, business-oriented legal solutions.
Job Requirements
Employment & Labor Law
Serve as a legal advisor on U.S. and global employment matters, including hiring, discipline, performance management, terminations, and reductions in force
Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws (FLSA and state equivalents), ADA, PWFA, FMLA, and state/local leave laws, including accommodation processes
Advise on employee relations matters, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and workplace investigations
Provide guidance to HR and leadership on employee relations issues and corrective actions
Draft and review employment-related documentation, including offer letters, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and separation agreements
Monitor changes in employment law and advise on impact to the business
Litigation, Arbitration & Agency Matters
Support the management of employment and commercial litigation, including EEOC, DOL, and state agency claims
Partner with outside counsel on case strategy and management
Assist with preparation of legal documentation, including pleadings, discovery, and settlement agreements
Coordinate internal investigations, litigation holds, and document production
Commercial & Client Support
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and vendor and services agreements
Advise on key contractual terms such as indemnification, limitation of liability, and risk allocation
Support client-related legal matters and escalations in coordination with Operations and Finance
Compliance, Governance & Risk
Support compliance with employment, regulatory, and contractual obligations
Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
Partner with cross-functional teams on risk mitigation initiatives
Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal reviews
Business Partnership
Partner with business leaders to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice
Balance legal risk with operational objectives
Prepare clear and concise legal guidance and recommendations
Knowledge
Education & Licensure
Juris Doctor (JD)
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Federal bar admission preferred
Experience
2 - 5 years of progressive legal experience
Strong background in employment and labor law (in-house and/or law firm)
Experience supporting employment litigation, arbitrations, and agency matters
Transactional experience, including drafting and negotiating agreements
Experience advising HR and business stakeholders
Prior in-house experience preferred
Experience supporting multi-state or global operations is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
The anticipated base salary range for this remote position is between $140,000- $150,000. In addition, Everise provides benefits including medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off. Depending on the specific role, compensation may also include discretionary bonus and other benefit programs. The actual compensation package may vary based on factors such as skill set, experience level, and candidate's location.
