Director, IT – Major Systems

The Director, IT – Major Systems will lead the strategy, governance and continuous improvement of KBR’s major IT systems, including enterprise applications and development/engineering platforms.  The Major Systems Director, IT will be accountable for successful delivery management, and handover to operations, ensuring they deliver measurable business and mission outcomes within pre-agreed investment, risk, architecture, and security protocols.

This role ensures systems are reliable, scalable, commercially competitive and aligned with business strategic objectives while enabling operational efficiency and technology-driven innovation. Through cross-functional collaboration and hands-on leadership, the Director drives system optimization, process improvement, and adoption of best practices to support ongoing business performance and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategy for major enterprise systems—including business applications and engineering platforms—to align technology capabilities with organizational goals
  • End‑to‑End Accountability for the full lifecycle of major applications and development programs - from strategy and roadmap through delivery, handover to operations, major optimizations (beyond small break fix), and retirement
  • Establish clear Delivery Governance delivery models, decision rights, and escalation paths; leading through empowerment and intervening only when guardrails are exceeded
  • Build and lead a high-performing empowered IT team that fosters collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across system operations
  • Partner with business and technical teams as the primary technical steward for the KBR Executive team to identify, champion and govern opportunities that enhance efficiency, data utilization, and operational effectiveness
  • Provide quarterly reporting, to the KBR Executive team on Portfolio & Investment Stewardship of enterprise critical program and application portfolios and their performance within approved funding envelopes, balancing demand, capacity, risk, and value
  • Oversee system integrations, upgrades, and governance to ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data management, and IT standards

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 15+ years of progressive IT experience
  • 5 – 8 years of experience within leadership roles managing enterprise-scale systems and IT operations
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing IT teams supporting complex system environments
  • Strong expertise in enterprise applications, system integration, modernization, and optimization initiatives
  • Demonstrated success implementing IT governance, cybersecurity, and data management standards

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience leading system modernization, integration, and process improvement initiatives
  • Background in ERP/CRM platforms and development or engineering systems
  • Familiarity with IT strategy execution in complex, multi-system enterprise environments
  • Track record of supporting business growth through technology-enabled solutions and cross-functional collaboration
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, vendors, and large-scale IT programs for enterprise systems
