What is the opportunity?

The Director, Investment Management Systems role offers a unique opportunity to lead the strategic vision, governance, and modernization of RBC Wealth Management Canada's (WMC) core portfolio management platform. As the senior business owner of the Investment Management Systems capability, you will drive innovation, operational excellence, and stakeholder alignment to ensure the platform delivers accurate, scalable, and resilient solutions that meet the evolving needs of the business, operations, compliance, and risk management.

What will you do?

  • Define and execute the long-term strategy for the Investment Management Systems platform.
  • Lead modernization, integration, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business capabilities and scalability.
  • Establish governance frameworks for data quality, platform controls, release management, and issue resolution.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and Data to align system priorities with business needs.
  • Act as the executive escalation point for major platform issues, process gaps, and transformation initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee strategic projects, systems implementations, integrations, and platform enhancements using agile delivery methodologies.
  • Embed regulatory, fiduciary, audit, and governance requirements into system processes to reduce operational risk and ensure compliance

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 5–7 years of experience in strategic leadership roles within portfolio management, investment operations, or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in platform ownership, governance, and modernization of investment management systems.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile delivery methodologies and managing large-scale technology projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory, fiduciary, and operational risk controls in the financial services industry.

Nice-to-have:

  • Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, CIM, or advanced degrees like MBA or MFIN. Experience with portfolio accounting, performance attribution, and security master data integration.
  • Familiarity with automation, process optimization, and data strategy alignment. Strong vendor management and budget oversight skills.
