The Director, International Media supports the television and digital media sales efforts and manages international media partnerships throughout Japan and select Asian markets. The position oversees market research, sales opportunities, media agreements and partnership reporting. Additional responsibilities include ensuring contract compliance, developing content initiatives, and promoting marketing strategies to increase fan engagement and golf participation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in International Business/Finance, Media/Communications or another related field is required

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Broadcasting & Television, Sports Media & Marketing or Media Rights & Business Development. Prior experience working with Asian media platforms/broadcasters is required.

  • Prior experience working with a U.S.-based company either in Japan or the U.S.

  • Knowledge of APAC broadcasters, digital platforms and distributors is a plus

  • Written and spoken fluency in both English and Japanese with cross-cultural skills

  • Strong understanding of data analytics and confidence presenting to internal stakeholders

  • Excellent organization, communication, and multitasking skills as well as a detail-oriented individual

  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work in a matrix organization that spans multiple offices in different time zones

  • Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills, with prior experience creating presentations for senior management

  • Strong work ethic with an ability to lead projects and develop ideas independently

  • International travel required.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Identify business development opportunities in the media, digital and ancillary business space, including content distribution and digital partnerships, in Japan and other assigned Asia markets.

  • Support the SVP of International Media, based in London, UK, in negotiating deals in Japan and other assigned Asia markets

  • Support the team in establishing and implementing global distribution strategy for PGA TOUR across all platforms (TV, digital, mobile, AVOD, SVOD) including approach to revenue, audience and brand growth.  

  • Source market data, conduct independent research, develop financial valuation models, business plans and other supporting analyses.

  • Communicate research findings and recommendations via power-point presentations and/or memos (i.e. structure storyline, present findings to the team and wider audiences as required).

  • Act as the main point of contact for international media client services, supporting existing PGA TOUR rights holders in Japan and other assigned Asia markets.

  • Oversee daily management of media partnerships, including tracking weekly broadcast plans, content strategies, and compliance with contractual obligations.

  • Work alongside senior leadership and colleagues globally to set partnership objectives, enhance programming and coverage, develop market and partnership strategies, and establish success metrics.

  • Manage the elevation of marquee events like THE PLAYERS, FedExCup Playoffs, Presidents Cup, and in territory events in Japan and other assigned Asia markets

  • Collaborate with Data Science Analysts to collect broadcast and digital data from partners to analyze ratings, airtime, promotions, and distribution results.

  • Provide comprehensive support to all media partners involved in the Baycurrent Classic, covering planning, execution, management, and reporting for on-site production, supplementary content, and marketing and promotional initiatives to ensure maximum reach, impact, and visibility for the event.

  • Report regularly on progress, performance, and partnership updates for each market internally.

  • Maintain and grow the JSNA relationship in Japan with monthly communications, regular exposure reports, timely issue resolution, and clear weekly documentation of rights usage.

  • Coordinate with PR agencies in Japan to market and promote the TOUR.

  • Work with PGA TOUR Studios and Broadcast Services to handle footage licensing requests for Japan.

  • Special projects or other duties as assigned.
