The Director of Brand Strategy is responsible for shaping and advancing the brand strategy for Humana, Reliance, and CarePlus to drive business growth, brand relevance, and long‑term value. This role sets the strategic direction for brand‑led marketing initiatives, developing breakthrough advertising and campaign strategies that resonate with target audiences while performing in a highly regulated environment.

Reporting to the AVP, Brand & Experiential Marketing, you are a senior leader in the Marketing Organization and part of the broader Enterprise Growth team. The Director of Brand Strategy leads the development of brand frameworks, audience strategies, and integrated campaign approaches that elevate Humana Insurance, Reliance, and CarePlus across the marketplace. This role partners closely with Consumer Insights and Analytics, Lifecycle Marketing, Marketing Operations, and Marketing Data & Technology to ensure brand strategies are grounded in insight, executed with excellence, and deliver measurable business impact. This position is ideal for a seasoned marketing leader with deep brand strategy expertise who can influence at the enterprise level and translate vision into results.

Responsibilities:

  • Set and lead the enterprise brand strategy for Humana Insurance, Reliance, and CarePlus across lines of business and member segments to drive awareness, relevance, and growth. 

  • Lead the development, execution, and optimization of brand positioning and advertising strategies that strengthen brand affinity and market differentiation. 

  • Leverage consumer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence to inform strategic direction and identify opportunities for brand differentiation. 

  • Partner with analytics teams to establish success metrics and evaluate brand and advertising performance, translating insights into continuous improvement. 

  • Define and evolve brand positioning frameworks, guidelines, and artifacts to ensure consistent and effective application across channels and touchpoints. 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on brand health, performance, and experiential strategy. 

  • Oversee and optimize agency, partner, and vendor relationships to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and return on investment. 

  • Lead, develop, and mentor highperforming teams, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and accountability. 

  • Influence crossfunctional leaders to ensure brand strategy is embedded across marketing, media, and experience initiatives. 

  • Influence product development roadmap with line of business partners to create differentiated features and experiences for members and prospects.  

  • Ensure Humana Insurance brands are meaningfully differentiated in the marketplace to drive sustained engagement and business growth.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in brand strategy, advertising, or integrated marketing, with proven success driving enterpriselevel initiatives; experience within insurance, healthcare, regulated industries, or a Fortune 200 organization strongly preferred. 

  • 3+ years of experience leading and influencing crossfunctional teams and complex marketing initiatives at an enterprise scale. 

  • Proven track record of shaping brand positioning and advertising strategies that drive measurable business and brand outcomes. 

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization. 

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable direction. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree or advanced certification in Marketing Strategy, Business Administration, or Healthcare Management. 

  • Strong understanding of marketing analytics, audience segmentation, and performance measurement frameworks. 

  • Experience operating within agile marketing models or enterprise transformation environments. 

  • Demonstrated success managing large marketing budgets and leading agency and vendor relationships. 

  • Preferred locations: Arlington, VA; Louisville, KY; Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Tampa, FL; Nashville, TN; Dallas, TX; Seattle, WA; Denver, CO; and Fort Lauderdale, FL.  

The leader selected for this role should anticipate periodic inoffice work to support collaboration, executive engagement, and key planning moments. Remote options will be considered based on role needs and candidate experience.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$168,000 - $231,000 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
