You will be reporting to the Chief of People & Culture and serve as a key member of the HR leadership team. You will be responsible for overall business performance and development of strategies and change management initiatives to influence and support the organisational strategic direction.

This role also involves leading the HR Operations team, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and Shared Services team to ensure effective management of HR activities and plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the HR Operations team in the support to business and implementation of HR activities.
  • Management of employee relations requirements such as union negotiations, performance investigations, policies, objectives and legislative requirements.
  • Provide leadership to HR Managers and Program Managers managing ramp down/up activities.
  •    Establish and maintain productive working relationships with Program Managers and the Directors network.
  • Ensure effective local HR Operations representation and input at business meetings, Gates, Estimates at Completion (EAC), and Project Management Review (PMR).
  • Gather, prepare, and analyse materials on behalf of the Chief of People & Culture for decision-making purposes
  • Act as conduit for COE Functional representatives across Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and Shared Services
  • Travel will be required on a regular basis, both within Australia and internationally to fulfil the requirements of this role.
  • Other duties as deemed relevant to program and operational requirements and within the technical competency of the position.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Requires a University Degree in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Industrial Relations, Business Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Post graduate qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • Tertiary qualifications or certification in Project Management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 12 years prior relevant experience (when a University Degree is held).
  • Requires deep management and leadership knowledge to lead and manage multi-functional project teams.
  • Proven experience in industrial relations, employee relations, and union negotiations.
  • Track record of effective project management execution.
  • Significant team management experience and demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and career development skills.
  • Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
