What will you do?

Project Leadership and Execution

  • Oversee and manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring efficient processes and procedures are in place.

  • Take a hands-on approach to project management, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring progress to ensure successful delivery.

  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and goals, identifying and mitigating risks and issues along the way.

  • Prepare comprehensive project status reports and executive presentations to keep stakeholders informed.

Strategic Portfolio Management

  • Provide function-wide oversight of the strategic project and investment portfolio, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Lead the end-to-end management and delivery of complex, high-impact programs, driving strategy alignment and stakeholder engagement.

Team Coaching and Mentorship

  • Serve as a mentor and coach to project practitioners, providing direction and guidance on project management best practices.

  • Champion the adoption and maturation of project management methodologies (both Agile and Waterfall), offering training and support to project teams on approaches and hybrid delivery models.

  • Establish and maintain a Project Management Centre of Excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Strategic Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on project delivery strategies and change management, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

  • Provide insights and recommendations on project scope, timing, and issue resolution, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Undergraduate degree and ideally a Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification, Agile certification strongly preferred.

  • At least 10 years of experience working in a mid- to large-size corporate environment in Project/Program Delivery, and 5+ years People Management experience.

  • Experience with large-scale organizational change with strong organizational awareness.

  • A proven leader driving large and complex cross-functional program delivery, leading change, team collaboration, transparency, and alignment on goals and expectations. Preferably experience with Human Resources projects.

  • Demonstrated agile delivery experience, with the knowledge and ability to influence ways of working, set up scaled agile delivery squads and establish effective routines.

  • Experienced with measuring initiative value and benefits by establishing and monitoring program objectives and key results to align with business goals, breaking work down into manageable deliverables.

  • Advanced stakeholder and relationship management skills, with a focus on building partner relationships and influencing outcomes with senior leaders.

  • Advanced communication and facilitation skills (verbal and written) with experience tailoring messages to diverse audiences, delivering presentations and facilitating inclusive discussions for senior-level audiences.

  • Advanced planning and scheduling expertise, with experience in building and maintaining detailed large and integrated program schedules, roadmaps, and timelines.

  • Financial program management experience in budget management, financial forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, benefits tracking, value realization and vendor invoicing.

  • Advanced understanding and experience with risk and issue management frameworks, including the ability to conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain transparency in reporting.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in managing transformational business and technology programs at a large financial services company, across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Professional Certifications including PMP/PGMP, CSM/ACSM, SAFE.

  • Understanding of HR technologies such as Workday and SAP.

  • Prior experience at RBC and familiarity with RBC’s Project Governance is an asset.
