The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview

Pay range: $140,690 - $174,420 annualized

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the development and execution of system wide patient safety and HRO strategy aligned with organizational priorities. Directs daily operations through subordinate leaders and/or individual contributors as applicable.
  • Embeds Just Culture principles into daily operations, leadership practices, and event review processes.
  • Partners with executive and clinical leadership to drive a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Oversees the organizational safety event review process, including triage, investigation, and follow up.
  • Ensures timely escalation, executive awareness, and appropriate action planning for high risk events.
  • Standardizes methodologies to ensure consistency, depth and quality of event investigations across the system.
  • Ensures compliance with all Department of Health reportable safety event requirements and other regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees the timely, accurate submission of reportable events and follow up documentation.
  • Serves as a key liaison with regulatory bodies during reviews, surveys, and investigations.
  • Maintains readiness for regulatory and state surveys related to patient safety.
  • Leads enterprise wide process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing harm and improving reliability.
  • Oversees proactive risk assessments, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Analyzes trends in safety data to identify system vulnerabilities and emerging risks.
  • Leads education and training on patient safety, HRO, Just Culture and event reporting.
  • Supports front line engagement in safety initiatives and shared accountability structures. Partners with nursing, medical staff and ancillary leaders to align safety priorities across departments.
  • Establishes clear expectations, ensures appropriate staffing levels, and fosters a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance.
  • Recruits, selects, and hires qualified staff. Ensures hiring decisions align with organizational standards and position requirements.
  • Oversees and conducts performance management processes, including goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal performance evaluations. Holds staff accountable for achieving performance expectations and organizational objectives.
  • Promotes professional growth and development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback. Supports ongoing education, training, and career development initiatives, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or healthcare related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Certification in specialty area preferred. (CPHQ, PSC).
  • Experience: Five years of progressively responsible, directly related experience in patient safety, quality, risk management or clinical operations in an acute care setting. Demonstrated active participation in RCA/SER processes and after action planning, regulatory reporting, and system level process improvement initiatives.
  • Other Credentials:
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possesses excellent organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and verbal presentation skills. Demonstrates ability to foster teamwork and bring together diverse groups in a collaborative and effective manner.
  • Special Training: Strong computer skills required. MS Office (Work, Excel, Power Point). Data analysis and quality experience. Knowledge in lean, six sigma or other process improvement techniques preferred.
