Head of Legal Operations Services

As Head of Legal Operations Services, the individual will architect the future of how legal operations services are delivered across TIAA's global Law and Policy (L&P) organization. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to build something transformational: a world-class legal operations function that doesn't just support legal work—it reimagines it.  The person will lead initiatives that few legal operations professionals ever get to touch such as supporting the transition of an enterprise-wide matter management system, preparing a global legal department for AI integration, and establishing India as TIAA's strategic hub for legal process innovation. The individual will be a member of the TIAA GC Legal leadership team and will be looked upon to provide critical support and leadership for the global legal ops function to ensure that TIAA GC is being utilized efficiently and effectively in driving forward our legal operations needs.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive the delivery of key strategic projects including contract negotiations and life cycle, Outside Counsel program including engagement, eBilling and invoice management, Technology strategy and process support, eDiscovery, Records and Knowledge Management, Business Management and project management work, etc
  • Drive and execute on the strategic priorities for the Global Legal Operations function; measure and report the results. Serve as a change agent and assist global Law & Policy in driving culture change.
  • Maintain and support implementation of policies and procedures in support of the business area strategy. Directly oversee performance and development of Legal Operations Services team through regular, timely feedback; partnering with the Global Legal Operations team to ensure delivery of results on Law & Policy’s strategy. Develop team capabilities in emerging technologies, including AI and automation tools. Manage resource allocation and capacity planning to support both operational excellence and transformation initiatives
  • Analysis and reports on area data (financial, headcount, etc.) and performance metrics.
  • Supports business management projects by monitoring and tracking risks, issues and action items.
  • Influences the development of new strategic initiatives through tracking budgets and milestones.
  • Establish India as TIAA's Center of Excellence for legal operations and process innovation
  • Create business intelligence capabilities that provide actionable insights to stakeholders and enable data-driven decision-making
  • Build credible partnerships across L&P in India and US, business functions, and IT to deliver transformation initiatives that generate measurable value
  • Have a strong understanding of the legal domain and the ability to provide leadership and guidance to other teams within TIAA GC L&P
