The Director – GRCE Compliance Capabilities is accountable for the strategy, development, and ongoing evolution of BMO's enterprise GRC platform, ensuring it effectively enables compliance outcomes across the organization. This role serves as the single point of accountability for the end‑to‑end GRC platform for regulatory compliance risk, spanning technology roadmap, operating model, data quality, regulatory fitness, and stakeholder adoption.

The Director partners closely with Compliance, Operational Non‑Financial Risk (ONFR), Technology, and Business stakeholders to ensure the platform supports enterprise frameworks (e.g., risk assessments, issue management, regulatory change) and meets supervisory expectations while delivering a strong user experience.

GRC Platform Strategy & Ownership

  • Own and execute the enterprise GRC platform strategy and multi‑year roadmap, aligned to regulatory requirements, enterprise risk frameworks, and business priorities.
  • Act as LRC product owner for the GRC platform, integrating process, methodology, data, and technology into a cohesive ecosystem.
  • Ensure platform capabilities support core GRC use cases including risk assessments, controls, issue management, regulatory change, monitoring, and attestations.

Delivery, Change & Optimization

  • Lead platform enhancement initiatives, vendor engagements, and major releases, including prioritization of backlog, defect management, and design decisions.
  • Oversee optimization and remediation activities arising from health checks, audits, regulatory exams, and second‑line effective challenge.
  • Ensure disciplined change management, release governance, and clear communications to stakeholders (e.g., forums, release notes, training artifacts).

Governance, Risk & Regulatory Alignment

  • Ensure the GRC platform remains aligned with enterprise compliance frameworks, policies, and supervisory expectations.
  • Provide executive‑level oversight of platform‑enabled processes such as issue escalation, attestations, regulatory change tracking, and risk reporting.
  • Partner with second‑line and audit functions to support examinations, reviews, and ongoing effective challenge.

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for Compliance, Technology, and third‑party partners.
  • Lead or support GRC steering committees and executive forums, providing clear reporting on roadmap, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Drive adoption through strong stakeholder engagement, clear accountability, and pragmatic design choices.

Team & Operating Model Leadership

  • Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviors in all that they do.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing team spanning project management and helpdesk support.
  • Define and mature the GRC platform operating model, including roles, responsibilities, RACI, and service management.
  • Ensures alignment between values and behavior that fosters diversity and inclusion.
  • Provides feedback on the development of program methodology.

*This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days in the Toronto office (subject to change)

Salary:

$121,600.00 - $211,800.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
