What you'll be doing
CIBC’s Capital Markets business is committed to being the premier client-focused Capital Markets group in Canada, offering a comprehensive suite of credit, capital markets, investment banking, merchant banking, and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate, and retail clients both domestically and internationally.
As part of the Capital Markets Global Regulatory Management Group, and reporting to the Executive Director, you’ll play a key role in championing and maintaining robust governance frameworks that align with evolving global regulations. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to support regulatory compliance and drive best practices, ensuring our frameworks remain effective and responsive to industry changes.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $92,490 to $142,490.
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How you’ll succeed
Capital Markets Governance, Compliance, and Control – You’ll lead the planning and implementation of governance, compliance, and control programs and processes for Capital Markets, ensuring our frameworks are robust and effective.
Global Regulatory Updates and Impact Assessment – You’ll advise on global regulatory changes that affect Capital Markets, streamline delivery to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness, and lead regulatory impact assessments in collaboration with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line groups as a subject matter expert.
Audit and Regulatory Reporting – You’ll respond to global regulatory audits, including OSFI, NFA, and OSC, focusing on the implementation of new and existing regulatory changes, and oversee the execution of regulatory reporting projects and initiatives.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management – You’ll work closely with Enterprise-wide Compliance, infrastructure partners, and other stakeholder groups to advise on changes to business and technology processes, establish and maintain relationships across Business, Technology, lines of defense, and third-party service providers, and effectively influence executives and management within CIBC.
Presentation, Committee Support, and Business Case Development – You’ll set agendas and prepare presentations for executive steering committees and senior stakeholders, and leverage your experience in developing comprehensive business cases to support strategic initiatives.
Program Management, Financial Expertise, and Creative Problem Solving – You’ll bring delivery experience in Capital Markets-wide projects, applying tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling projects with a focus on financial and schedule management, and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills by thriving in ambiguity, connecting the dots, and driving continuous improvement.
Who you are
You have an undergraduate degree in business or equivalent.
You have extensive industry experience. You bring at least 5 years of financial services expertise to the role, along with a strong understanding of CIBC’s operating policies, standards, and organizational structure.
You’re a strong communicator. You use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build, manage, and leverage relationships with colleagues at all levels, as well as internal and external business partners.
You have the knowledge of the operational, regulatory, and reputational risks within the capital markets environment and comprehension of the policies, standards, processes and controls that need to be in place to mitigate these risks.
You thrive in fast-paced environments. You’re comfortable managing multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work even when faced with tight deadlines.
You’re a process innovator. You excel at establishing key processes in areas where guidelines may not yet exist, and you proactively initiate design and development to create effective workflows.
