This pivotal role involves integrating strategy, performance, and cutting-edge technology, including AI, to craft impactful, omnichannel-ready scientific communications. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Medical Content Strategy, you'll empower teams and stakeholders to elevate content excellence, improve operational efficiency, and maximize engagement with healthcare stakeholders. Accountabilities:
Lead the co-creation and operationalization of the overarching medical content strategy, integrating AI and innovative technology for omnichannel engagement.
Architect and enhance an operating model that supports content innovation through modular content and agile ways of working.
Develop advanced content frameworks for customer-centric, evidence-based communications across platforms and channels.
Drive the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI and automation tools, for scalable content operations.
Establish governance and best practices ensuring compliance, consistency, quality, and scientific excellence.
Champion cross-functional change management efforts by leading training and collecting stakeholder feedback.
Design effectiveness metrics to measure content impact, customer engagement, operational efficiencies, and business outcomes.
Partner with IT, Commercial Digital Health, Global Insights & Business Excellence (GIBEX), Global Business Services, and other stakeholders to leverage digital solutions.
Build collaborative relationships with Medical leadership, Commercial, R&D, and external stakeholders to enhance AstraZeneca’s Scientific Communications teams' influence.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Advanced degree in health sciences (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) preferred.
Minimum of 5+ years in pharmaceutical industry Medical/Scientific Communications with comprehensive knowledge of regulations and best practices. Minimum 2-3 years clinical or scientific experience.
Proven expertise in scientific communications, medical/scientific content creation, structured authoring, and/or end-to-end processes supporting advanced customer engagement.
Track record in leading or transforming omnichannel scientific communication strategies across digital, web, live, and virtual platforms.
Experience implementing artificial intelligence tools and technology-enabled innovation in scientific communications.
Enterprise mindset with demonstrated digital strategy, governance, and project management skills in matrixed/global environments.
Strong proficiency in content review (promotional, medical, regulatory), governance, and compliance.
Demonstrated success in cross-functional leadership, influencing change, and driving adoption of new processes/tools.
Agile, strategic thinker comfortable with complex challenges; makes confident decisions.
Outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; thrives in multicultural settings.
Patient-care experience and a patient-centric mindset.
