Position Summary:
Milacron is seeking a Director, Global Environmental & Employee Health and Safety (EHS) to join our team in Batavia, OH! The Director, Global EHS will ensure all Milacron sites provide a safe workplace for employees and minimize impacts on the environment. This position maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, along with conformance to Milacron EHS policies, processes, and Global EHS Standards. The Global EHS Director builds a proactive people-based safety culture at both plant sites, creating an environment where employees and supervision are individually and collectively engaged in working safely. This position measures and communicates key metrics that drive the effectiveness and sustainability of EHS programs, processes, and performance across the sites. The Global EHS Director achieves EHS goals and objectives in a professional manner that enhances Milacron economic viability. The EHS Director reports directly to the VP of Global Operations in Batavia, OH.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide EHS leadership, support, and direction across the multiple sites, establishing strong working relationships with site and functional leadership.
Implement EHS standards, provide technical assistance on EHS issues, and partner with the business on compliance, project management, and EHS management issues.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local agency EHS regulatory requirements and Milacron Global EHS Standards; advise on developing EHS legislation and legal requirements; and serve as the interface with local, state, and federal agencies.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of various EHS permit applications, fee payments, and performance reports to applicable regulatory agencies, as well as Milacron senior leadership.
Submit reports to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant organizations.
Develop training for employees on health and safety regulations and associated practices, follow OSHA regulations.
Lead and mentor Safety Associates in your assigned facility.
Review for effectiveness the deployed safety tools and revise to ensure continual improvement.
Evaluate and act upon new environmental & safety regulations.
Primary contact for regulatory agencies such as EPA and OSHA for inspections, permitting, and reporting.
Oversee all EHS training programs and requirements, including timely completion.
Conduct EHS self-assessments at the sites, identify areas for improvement, and lead effective corrective actions to continually mitigate EHS hazards, reduce injury rates, and prevent incidents.
Investigate injuries/illnesses, near-misses, and environmental incidents; determine root cause(s); and manage corrective and preventive action plans to closure.
Direct loss prevention and property protection procedures and services across the Milacron manufacturing and assembly locations.
Oversee the Security function at the Milacron manufacturing and assembly locations, including administrative and electronic controls.
Coordinate delivery of medical services for the Milacron manufacturing and assembly locations; ensures timely and efficient delivery of medical surveillance testing, work-related injury treatment, and emergency medical care; and assist Human Resources with worker’s compensation, medical leave, and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
Work with the facilities and maintenance organizations to ensure cost effective minimization and/or disposal of hazardous wastes and recyclable materials associated with site operations.
Review capital projects and specify requirements to ensure environmental, health, and safety standards and requirements are met.
Prepare and manage EHS operating budgets for the Milacron manufacturing and assembly locations.
Manage EH&S department budget.
Ability to develop strategy and execute on that strategy that aligns with corporate and operating goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages Safety Personnel
Education/Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a safety or environmental related field required. A master’s degree is preferred.
7–10 years managing Environmental, Health, & Safety in a manufacturing environment.
Broad knowledge of environmental, health, & safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification desirable
Highly motivated and self-directed, with strong communication, influence, and consultative skills.
Adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people in a variety of different situations, while maintaining strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
Able to communicate with all levels of personnel and provide verbal feedback and written communications in an effective and professional manner.
Able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
Able to use business/financial acumen, customer orientation, and strategic thinking to focus EHS resources on meeting critical business needs.
Able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for the organization at any given point in time.
Safety expertise includes cranes & hoists, energy lockout, machine guarding, powered industrial vehicles, ergonomics, electrical safety, incident investigation & root cause analysis, and related corrective action development and implementation.
Environmental expertise includes air, hazardous waste, wastewater, and EPCRA.
Ability to support 3-shift and weekend operations.
Travel: 20-30% travel to support the plants, based on needs
