ROLE SUMMARY 

 

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering leader to collaborate and partner across high-performing, cross-functional software engineering teams In this role, you will drive technical excellence, set technical direction, create space for innovation, and model the ownership behaviors that define our engineering culture. 

 

This Director role encompasses multi-team initiatives with high impact to the organizational and its strategic goals You’ll influence multiple teams, be recognized as a domain expert and navigate through complexity and ambiguity to deliver results.

QUALIFICIATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field 

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, or applied AI 

  • Proven ability to build working prototypes and AI applications using modern languages and frameworks 

  • Experience in life sciences or manufacturing industries  

 

PRACTITIONER-LEVEL SKILLS 

  • AI-Augmented Development: You optimize team AI tool usage, train others on AI-augmented workflows, evaluate new AI development tools, and balance AI speed with verification. 

  • Business Immersion: You immerse in operations until you think like an insider, rapidly acquire domain expertise through direct observation, and mentor others on immersion techniques. 

  • Knowledge Management: You lead knowledge management initiatives and create organizational knowledge systems. 

  • Lean Thinking & Flow: You lead lean transformations, design flow-optimized systems, coach others, and balance speed with sustainability. 

  • Stakeholder Management: You influence senior stakeholders, manage complex stakeholder landscapes, and build trust rapidly. 

  • Team Collaboration: You build high-performing teams and handle complex interpersonal dynamics. 

  • Technical Writing: You define documentation standards, create documentation systems, and train others on spec-driven development. 

 

WORKING-LEVEL SKILLS 

  • AI Evaluation & Verification: You design evaluation frameworks, test AI systems systematically, document limitations, and ensure verification depth. 

  • AI Literacy: You evaluate AI solutions critically, understand bias, fairness, and hallucination risks, and know when AI helps vs hinders. 

  • Site Reliability Engineering: You design observability strategies, lead incident response, and implement proactive resilience testing.

FOUNDATIONAL-LEVEL SKILLS 

  • Architecture & Design: You can explain common patterns (MVC, microservices) and contribute to architectural discussions. 

  • Code Quality & Review: You write readable code, use linting tools, write basic tests, and participate in code reviews. 

  • DevOps & CI/CD: You configure basic pipelines and understand containerization basics. 

  • Full-Stack Development: You build simple features across frontend and backend using JavaScript or Python and understand how layers connect.
